Am I realistic about my budget for a cls55?
I am in the market for a 2006 cls55 with mileage in the 50k range with your common options , and a price of $30k. I have looked at the ones on the market and they seem to be asking around mid 30's so my rational is there is room to move in price. Whats your thoughts, am I reasonable with a 30K offer if one comes up with that mileage or is that a long shot?

Thanks for the reply, I will of course consider condition however I checked out 1 which was very clean from Herb Chambers in the Boston area with 51k miles asking $32k but was 1 day too late.

A well looked after CLS55 that has exceeded 50k miles can still be a good option. Better a high mileage car that has done alot of high way driving and well cared for than a 30k miles that has done mostly city driving. Not really good for these motors.
At that price i wouldn't mind picking up a high mileage like 80k and well looked after. These engines are bullet proofs and can exceed 300k miles if well looked after!

I've been looking as well, 35k should be your budget for a car with a max of 55k miles. There are like 4 on autotrader in total. I have a buddy I might ask to get it for me at Mannheim but will more than likely buy one private party

2006 CLS55 AMG
I just picked up a 2006 CLS55 out of Florida with 32,500 miles for $33,500 -- this was his loan payoff. It also came with a nice transferrable extended warranty good for another 2.5 years or 75k miles. I had to spend
$1000 on new rear tires, battery and service but my mechanic says the car otherwise checked out 100% perfect.
There are good cars in your price range but you will probably need to travel somewhere to get it and chances are you will spend a couple grand fixing it up regardless of the condition. Mine had a good carfax report and came with an extended warranty so I wasnt too worried but otherwise I would have had a mechanic who is familiar with Mercedes check it out first.
One last bit of advice is try to find out why the seller is motivated to sell. My seller was getting a divorce and just wanted to walk away from his car payments so we agreed on a loan payoff. Good luck.

A couple days ago Carmax had an 06 CLS55 with 29k miles on it for $39K. It's gone now sadly. 
But still the deals are out there but I don't think a whole lot of CLS55's were made to begin with?
