Smells like rotten eggs when i punch it...
Im assuming its bad cats ....not sure if its secondary or primary. i live in california so are there aftermarket cats i can add so im not dropping 2k on OEM parts ..??? thanks guys!

My car has the same smell. If I drive with the sunroof tilted up I get that smell in the cabin. Could my cats already be bad at 35000 miles. It's. Stock exhaust

If u are under warranty is have them check it out ASAP a clogged CAT and actually destroy your engine. Mine has been like this now for about a
Month so I don't get on her like I used too . I'm way out of warranty lol so my options are aftermarket at this point lol

Bleak I am also way out of warranty. Car was just serviced don't supposed they would have checked for that then. Hmmmm going to have to investigate this one

No they don't check for it unless u ask for the CATS to be checked. I had a Shelby that had this problem and it was the cats ended up going with Magnaflow High FLOW cats but after looking up on their site they don't make replacement cats so I'm thinking a universal CA OBDII approved so I can romp on her again with out fear of blowing her up lol

I have this same issue as well on my CLS55. I understand it's bad cats. How can it be resolved? Will the smell go away if the cats are simply removed? Because I want to delete my resonators and my secondary cats in order to make the car sound louder.

Federal Government passed a law saying that all cats much last 8 yrs/80k miles. If they fall under those yrs/mis then your manufacturer is responsible for replacing them. I'm just cutting out my cats and welding a pipe straight through since my new exhaust is going in a month

so after a spirited run coming home tonight, parked her in the garage, let it idle for a bit and noticed the same sulfer/rotten egg smell as i opened the door : / so is this mean my cats are going or? sorry for the thread jack.

my car has 53k so and is under 8 years so should it be covered under teh 8 year 80k mile emissions law ? today i started it in the garage all seemed well, when i got to work i got on it a little and also didnt smell anything out of norm... hmmm

I think you would know straight away if your cats were bad. Easy most obvious way is tilt sun roof open and get on it for a couple seconds with a pull off... Straight away my car is filled with wrotten egg sulphur smell. It's really obvious, not at idle in a garage but after punching it hard.

well time for an update , the car returned from its 140k tune up , pretty much everything was done lol Had the spark plugs replaced and the shop noticed a few where pretty much just toast. after talking with my tuner and installer they pretty much agreed due to the shiityy plugs it was causing the car to run extra rich and burning the shizzza out of the cats causing the sulfer like smell. Just a thought for those out there that have this problem, might be a good time to get the plugs changed out ... just an FYI dealer or indi. shop its still around 600$ . Happy motoring everyone !
