Good job Mate!
Some serious eye candy, I would have loved to been there, what a cool venue (although I have no idea what kind of factory that was).

Hi,

First of all congratulations for the extremely well maintained CLS 55, it looks superb. I put a down-payment on an Andradite green w219 55 and I'm taking inspiration from your posts to buy the needed preventive maintenance parts as the "mileage" is quite similar (189k km), unfortunately I'll have it in my hands only in December 😭

I'm happy to see that other users are also working on their cars and care about little stuff like the airmatic compressor rubber dampers and springs, I myself replaced them on my R-class and it makes a difference (one spring was missing, some technician must have forgotten about it) to even know they are new.

I have a question related to the brush you used to clean the radiator, as I'd like to do a similar job, perhaps you could tell me about what kind you used and if you used some detergent/cleaner?

Again kudos to you for keeping the beast alive and in perfect shape, perhaps next year I'll finally make it to schone sterne, just need to organize the trip from Italy...

Best Regards,
Francis

P.S. I was using my Ipad and didn't realize I replied to the wrong thread 😵‍💫

Replaced the injectors with the newer blue injectors (partnr 0280156304). They have the same specs as the black ones. Also cleaned some of the visible ground points in the engine bay.

Applied some gold heat reflective tape on the EVAP hardpipe

Work in progress, golden hardpipe visible in the back

8 new Bosch injectors (430cc). Specs can be seen here: https://www.injectorplanet.com/produ...-a1130780123-1

Had to apply some force to remove the fuel rail. Thats what you get when rubbers harden over time

Oil and gasoline leaks will attract a lot of dirt...

Gentle cleaning with a brush and a shop vac, already looks better

2 New injectors mounted and started with golden tape

Almost all injectors were totally filthy

Also note the shape of the O-ring . Round vs flattened

All 8 injectors fitted and golden tape applied!

Golden fuel rail under the intake plenum

Shakedown went bad..... Misfires on cilinder 4 Straight back into the garage and do checks. Cabling looked absolutely fine, so I decided to mount back one of the old injectors.

Serviced it first off course; new filter basket, new O-rings and retainer

I used this kit

Problem solved for now. Fuel trims were pretty high, between -5 / -7 . After my shakedown (and reset), fuel trims were at -1.5 / -2.5, which is a lot better!

After waiting for 2 months, I finally received the left intake hose from a S55/S63 AMG. I found the tip somewhere on MBWorld and decided to give it a try. The intake hose solved the narrow bent of the original hose and should give a little bit more power

Partnr A11310941282

This is the location of the restriction. Hard to see as the pipe is covered in heatwrap

Test fitment

Step 1: Golden tape treatment

Step 2: Heatwrap treatment

Quite the difference in shades of white

Replaced the Hella T10 5000k with some "XEOD" 6000k T10 LEDs. They will look better with the Bullvision 6500k LEDs dipped beams

The Hella

The XEOD

And both of hem compared.

You should look into installing a "scatter shield" around your supercharger clutch. Looks like this in the link:
https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...ml#post6580832
If a "dog bone" spring breaks, it will buzz saw through oil line(s) and the thermostat housing. I've seen photos on here where one owner had the shrapnel punch a hole in his hood.
