Dealer just called....im taking delivery in late January of CLS55

i thought the first deliveries would not be until march at the earliest. this info came from the two dealers that have supplied my amg cars. can you give me any more particulars so i might better spur my dealer(s). thanks.

Yeah, I am guessing the poster is playing. Dealer tells me the same: March will be the "expected" release and of course that's assuming everthing else follows the plan. The delay on the slk55 indicates anything can happen and we know demand for the cls55 will absolutely outstrip demand the first year.

The info i was told is that this specific car was already built by MB and that is why it is one of the first. I dont have any choice with the options and i dont know what they are as of yet. All i was told is the color combo which is white exterior and java interior. My sales guy told me i could build to order one but it wouldnt be until early march for delivery. Im skeptical as well, but hey, i didnt solicit the call from my sales guy.
Im not surprised there are already some built since i have seen a ton of videos and pictures. I dont remember seeing so many visual sightings of a car that was supposedly so far away from release.

What I know about availability
When I was in Affalterbach two weeks ago, I saw three CLS 55's being outfitted; in Sindelfingen the previous day, I saw one (black with black interies?
It turns out that certain Mercedes-Benz executives around the world are getting these first CLS 55s as their personal cars (a true corporate perk). I was told that the first units available to mere mortals like me -- in the U.S., at least -- would be in the March/April time frame.
I was also told by AMG here in Montvale that the first information in print about the CLS 55 which is provided by MBUSA would arrive at the dealers in December, as part of the marketing brochure for the CLS model.
Yesterday, I went back to my dealer to see whether the ordering information on Netstar had changed since my salesperson was able to enter my order six to eight weeks ago. There has not been any change.
My own supposition is that sometime in late January we who are the fortunate "early birds" will be asked to finalize our orders for production; however, by then we shall also know lots more about the car and its colors, options, etc., than we currently do.

Dealer said the same thing, Doc. Surprised that he would give the first "demo" to a customer. Like you said, the down side is the no select on the option/color. I hope it comes loaded for you. I need my color/options.

my dealer called while on vacation and said they had done a favor for mbusa and were getting an early 55, silver with lite gray interior only ( i hate it ) and the nav, avtive seat combo. for doing mbusa a favor of some sorts. also, i couldnt change any options. so i said put this on hold and ill call u when i get back the next morning. when i called they said someone else had bought it. so, fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me! they had my original e55 and told me to come in and pick it up. 6 hours later (mb of alexandria, american service center) sold to someone else (true story) so i wrote a letter to the ower blah. blah. blah. we love u blah. so i got my e55 at a dealer in northern md. the service manager of mb alex wooed me back really nice guy and put in my order (for the car i want) a month ago. so, being (somewhat ) scorned again for a car who's interior i wasnt really crazy over would you 86 this dealer??? and lose my place for march delivery to go to another dealer and be PRINCIPLED!!!, which i really am. or just complain and realize that all dealers are the same. customer service is dead. loyalty is non-existant and every scum bag salesman(mgr) is the same.

I ordered mine from Fletcher Jones in Newport (the largest benz dealer in the world) and my contact there said they expect 1st delivery in march with the exeption of an early designo edition that the dealers will probably keep on the floor in Feb.
Looking forward to it. Hard to beat for the price. I ordered every option excluding hte distronic.
