Looking at a 2020 cls 53 with a lot of options premium and drivers package. Anything I should watch out for? It’s CPO with 23k miles. I’ll get an extended warranty too. What does your yearly Maintainance look like on average minus tired? Thanks!
Luxurious handcrafted rocket ship. Subtle sinister. Bought one for my wife instead of an SL so she could haul grands around but I sneak it out on occasion. Non car people will miss it…does vaguely look like everything else, but car people will smile. Don’t be surprised if the valet leaves it out front. No more maintenance than any other similar car. Heavy car so not expecting 30k on tires, we’ll see. +1 on the extended warranty…probably a waste but if that engine does unwind, putting it back together is stunningly expensive. I like the factory growl but there’s an optional captains pass exhaust that is popular. Only other option I don’t have is the rear shade, and in FL and TN it would have been handy. Zero extra trunk space for a spare but the flip seats are handy. The driver assistance is clunky compared to Tesla, lots of windshield slope so invest in a good sun screen, and the HUD washes out with polarized glasses so get a set of non-polar glasses and a visor clip. Ceramic over PPE on the body, ceramic on wheels and glass. Play with some CF and tuning toys if that’s your thing. iPad holders are fine for the kiddos, headrest video is a waste. Then buckle in, set the massage seats to full hot shiatsu, the Burmeister to full Gotterdamerung, and conquer the world.

Just picked up a '19 and came across your posts. Have you had to deal with any major issues yet?

I just got one and I'm curious as well. Mine has just over 50k miles. Supposedly the 60k mile service was done which included spark plugs, Trans and different service. I need to buy an extended warranty within the next 30 days and I'm considering getting a post-purchase inspection.

100% have the vehicle inspected, really you should have it done prior to purchase, but better late than never. You can send me an email with the vehicle information to my email below if you'd like to see extended warranty pricing and coverage information for your CLS. Talk to you soon!
I may not be the best resource for issues. Our '20 just turned 10k miles...basically my wife's toy (turns her into Mario Andretti...or what Mario Andretti would look like if he were a really pretty blonde 42 year married wife/cheerleader). The factory tires bubbled on us at about three years which was concerning but otherwise, no issues whatsoever. I can't even think of anything to complain about. We added bluetooth CarPlay, and reprogrammed ILS. Absolute beast pretending to be a grocery delivery vehicle.

Does the ceramic coating on wheels repel brake dust?

Gosh, not sure about repel...but it seems pretty easy for the wheels to be washed down. I remember scrubbing American Racing wheels as a kid, and this seems more like Teflon. ILS is Intelligent LIghting System (or some such nonsense). Apparently it was legal in Europe but not here in 2020. It had to be enabled by one of the Ninjas. I don't remember what we were fixing with that, but I do recall it was important at the time. It's pretty cool when it launches, regardless. As for the BT...I used the one from thecarplayer.com...just a dongle thing but seems to work when we drive the car.
