I am the ultimate traitor

I got rid of the C55 while the car was fast and braked very well it just did not satisfy the sports car guy in me. I am getting...drum roll please...M3 6 speed w/comp Package...the Benz is a great car it is just not me, after driving the M3 this is not a car to compare to a C55 they are 2 totally different cars. Still like this forum so nice threads with intelligent input go on here..stay in touch...

Good luck and enjoy! Coming from a long line of BMW's, it's not difficult for me to understand your change. If the E90 M3 is not too ugly, I might find myself in one some day.

IMO, the C55 has much more in common with the M5 (at least the last generation M5. . . I have not driven the brand new one) that it has in common with the M3.

How much of a hit did you take on the C55?

2005 Brilliant Silver C55
I have been looking at the new Carrera and Carrera S and received bids on my 2005 C55. It has about 2000 miles. The bids from three local dealers were all between $44k - $45K.

What was the trade difference? What was the MSRP on the C55 vs the M3?

My business partner took it over for his wife so I lost the downstroke only..lucky me I have taken enough hits on cars...I will report back when I start driving the M3...

I came out of 2 x 996 coupes into the C55 and orginally was going into a 997 but right now the $ is not there for me to do so, therefore the M3 was the best solution.

Hope you still stay in touch and congrats on your M3. I still love the C55 and everything about it but an M3 is still a great choice too!

When the Mini came in I just decided it was way too small, I drive 30 mi on the turnpike everyday, so we leased a company Jetta GLI which I am driving everyday. Then I was configuring the 997 and decided i am not spending 75k on a base car w/19's Xenon and Bose...I can spend 50k on the M3 and have a great car. So I went a drove the M3 and fell in love...it is much differrent then the 997 but a likley contendor and 25k less expensive, I am trying to become responsible and devote my $ too other things that require my attention..

2005 Brilliant Silver C55
What was the sticker price on the M3? What options and did they discount it any? I sold my 2004 E46 M3 and purchased the C55. Not really having any regrets but the cars are quite different and I do miss the 6 speed and the overal BMW driving experience over the C55. In defense of the C55 I love the V8 power, the interior appointments, stereo and exterior look of the car. I have been thinking about a new M3 in white with the comp package lately but am not sure that I don't want to wait for the new M3. Plus as I said before I am looking at the new Carrera and Carrera S but the prices are about $76K and $86K, respectively.

I talked to two dealers and they got bids on my C55 at about $45K (sticker price was about $57K) and one offered me a trade value of $48K and the other $49K - $50K. With the tax savings it amounts to $52K - $54K. I paid invoice for my C55 ( $56,600 sticker and invoice of $52,638) but with tax was about $56,500.00. But the trade difference is still substantial.

You will love the M3. I did two things to mine. Put the carbon fiber GruppeM intake on and Eisenmann sport exhaust (from the cats back) in SS with 83MM tips. I would not select that exhuast again. Much better than OEM but not deep and throaty enough for me. I would recommend clear plastic protection in front of the rear wheels from the door edge guards down. The wide tires throw road debris and I was getting very small rock chips in front of each of my rear wheels.

M3 was about 54k as I built it, bas car is 47.5k, Comp Pkg 4k, Xenons, Leather & HK are $2475...I am getting 2k off sticker so I will be about 52k
I am going to do that intake and see how I like the Exhuast..Thanks for the info on the rock chips. car will be Titanium Silver / Blk interior, seems like w/trade you are not making out too bad on the C55. I as well loved the V8 power..but I missed a 6 speed...

i still dont understand why they did not use the updated front fascia from the current 3-series on the m3, i mean it looks great but i can get a 2001 and it looks the same basically as the one they have today (it is a good thing ,if i decide to do that and find one at the right price)

Hey marc, I went and looked at it again. I still really like it. They offered to let me drive it but I didn't feel like I was serious enough about it at this point. Its a six speed, still The BBS motorsport rims are hawt though, dealer put them on. Why do they charge you $1750 for 19"s though I don't get it? Can you buy it with 18"s? I'm afraid I would miss the comfort and ease of use of the C55.
