How do you LAUNCH off the line ....

I've heard that the 1/4 mile times on the C32 can vary by a whole second depending on how you launch. What is the best way to launch from standstill to get 1/4 mile times in the low 13's. This is my first auto tranny and I just want to be prepared in case I get lucky enough to meet a M3. :p

When I went to the track I had lots of problems trying to launch the car because i would lose traction too much. My best time was a 13.8...pretty dissappointing. From what I have learned from others is that brake torquing to about 1500 rpm then just flooring it is the way to go and you should be running 13.4's. Good luck and make sure if your race an M3 that it doesnt blow its engine.

A/C off, ESP off.

Brake torque @ 1500rpm, but on release do not just "floor" the throttle.

If the wheels are spinning, they'll just spin faster. If they are fighting for grip, you'll just unstick them.

You need to squeeze rather than to stomp. If you can keep feeding the power in progressively (which is not the same as slowly) then in IMHO (and experience) you'll get the best results.

Is brake torquing bad for your brakes?

No, but is is bad for the transmission, and not too good for the engine, either.

how i ran a 13.2

1)esp off
2)shift into gear 1 (and let it shift byitself)
3)no brake torque stuff for me
4)mash the gas but let off a little or the tires will just spin
5)let a little air out your rear tires.

-and before hand if your at a track and have time let the engine cool down and put a big ice bag over the SC. so the air inside gets denser.

No prob! Yeah, roozy is right....let off some air in the rear.....my tire pressures are 34 front and 32 rear. This can help a bit!

I find very little difference between just flooring it without brake torqing(BT) it and braking it to 1000 or 1500rpm. Wheel spin is the only difference. I can run 13.6's without BT and 13.5's with BT. So I say just floor it and don't worry about what gear you have selected and how much rpm you are feeding in. Just make sure ESP is off and AC off will help.
