Do i sell my clk240cab for a C55????

Hi guys,

Just had a call from a dealer to say he's got an Aug 2004 c55, Silver, command and phone. He wants £36850 but its got 41,000 on the clock.

Would find a c55 more practical with 2 kids and soooooo much power......

Although still think my cab looks great i dont like the ride quality.

What do you guys think ?

Matthew.

thats not a bad price for an 04 c55 here in the uk, MB swindon rang me to tell me that they had an 04 c55 with 13k on the clock, fully loaded and price was 48k, so considering that, im sure thats not a bad buy.

Is it fully mb history ??, owners ? what extras ie command, parktronic.

If its got the above then ide say GO GO GO or if u dont gimme there web addy or tel #

Just been out in it, its got 43k on the clock and its only 9 months old !

Not really been cared for, tail pipes are rusty and the rear badges are the same. 2 alloys are kerbed and needs 2 rear tyres.

When dealer started it up it made some odd noises and his explination was it had been sitting there a while !

But then again for £36850 its not too bad, although you can get brand spanking new ones for £44950 on drivethedeal.com.

I'm guessing it has been tracked alot. Push for a nice extended warranty thrown in (100k perhaps?), and see what you can work out with new rear tires, fixed wheels, and rust removal (or replacement).

I just upgraded form a C240, so I can tell you that driving the C55 with 5.4 litres of pure V8 power will be quite a change for you, compared with your CLK240.

I get a smile everytime I turn the ignition key. The V8 and exhaust growl is quite intoxicating. I quite recommend it!!

When you get an AMG car, you move into a rarified atmosphere. The CLK240 is not in that league. Nice car, but not in the same league. Get the C55 and enjoy!

go for it mathew.

Im sure theyll refurb the wheels and add 2 new tyres, push for a complete tidy up, polish/ valet etc and for an extended warranty. minimum 18 months, all dealers want to see there cars on the road, not sat in there forecourts.

You will not regret the choice, all i can say

2005 C55 AMG (Capri Blue)
What is wrong with the CLK240's ride quality. If you want a softer ride, the C55 is not for you. If you want better hanling, then the C55 is the way to go.

The car does sound minorly sketchy though. I'd want an independent tech to check out that "odd noise" before I purchased the car.

Way to go UK though. You're paying roughly $6k USD more for that used C55 than we pay for a fully loaded (nav/lighting/met. paint/etc..) C55 brand new.
The new one is a whopping $81k USD! That's $20k USD more.

Yikes. Follow your colonist brothers my friend. For that price you could move here and buy the C55.

Hi,

Ride quality is bad in my clk240 and it drifts to the left on the road - dealer says its normal !

The c55 was slightly harder but felt more comfortable. Yes 43,000 is heavy in 9 months. We dont have extended warranties in the UK for mercs. Although i only keep my cars for 12 - 18 months so its well in warranty.

Just not sure on how abused its been.

Of course we do, i bought an 02/c32 and the factory warranty expired in a few months, but they gave me an additional 12 months for piece of mind,

At the end of that warranty i have the option to further it by another 13 months at a cost though, i think its about £500/£600 , so yes,we do have extended warranties you just gotta push i little.

Hummm, very interesting.

I wanted an 03 plate e55 but was put off by the fact a £46K car only had a 1 year warranty, the dealer - who i know, never offered me anymore when i told him i didnt want it because of this.

Odd.
