Ooooh. I didn't see anyone dissing the C55?

No-one even disputed it.

Very matured views by the M5 owners. What's interesting is that my C32 is slightly slower than a E39 M5. I have only raced one M5 though. Lost by about 2 carlengths up to 200. Not bad I thought.

I've never tried going against a M5 cuz I know the C32 would lose at top end. I have way more fun going against ppl who think they have a fast car and drives like an idiot like the 350z, g35, srt4, etc

Thanks for this post.
After I read it , I feel sorry for MaimiC55 who has just totalled his C55 recently. And, it was all so nice to hear about his new C55 kill stories at that time.

Im not dissing you man by any means but if thats true take your car to the dealer and get it checked out.

My friend has an m5, hes a good driver too, we done several runs and he lost all of them, bbut im not disputing the fact that after 200 its a different story.

Another thing you might want to try is using the highest octane fuel available in your areas, as this will make a big difference in perfomance.

I use shell optimax 98ron

Then you will understand why I lost. The highest octane we get here is crappy 93. I have compared overseas tests with local tests, and our cars are much slower here. C32's here do 0-60mph in just under 6 seconds, about 5.7-5.8, which is a lot slower that overseas. And a s/c engine loses more with low octane than a n/a engine. A local magazine here tested a stock #55 on 93. He did a 4.9 sec 0-60. Then they put 102 racing fuel in and remapped the chip for it. It then did a 4.3 I think. Shows you the difference.

Has anyone ever investigated the optimum octane for C32 ? Depends on a number of factors I know, but there must be a certain range.

0-60mph in just under 6 seconds??????????? That's a big disappointment if it's true! Hell, the highest I can find here is 93 grade.

In general, most BMW M drivers think that AMG cars are not "real sports cars" because they think AMG cars can't handle well on twisties and there is no manual transmission. They also criticize AMG's current approach with relatively low tech large displacement engines to generate power, compared to BMW M's approach of using high tech lower displacement engines which rely on high engine speed to generate power. There is simply very little respect from their camp because they think the typical AMG car is a luxury car that can go fast only in a straight line.

Exactly the reason why I bought my car. I wanted a fast smooth luxurious car. Even though I was a racing driver for a couple of years, handling is not that important for me in my road car. That's why I have a dedicated track car. A road car that handle well, tends to drive hard, just look at the C55. It handles much better than the C32, but doesn't have the ride comfort.

And that is why AMG's are so nice to drive. Because they have good midrange thanks to either large cc's, or being supercharged.

Think about it, if AMG's were such bad cars, why are so many people buying it? Different people want different things in cars.

98ron is pretty similar 93 octane in the us rating of octane number which AFAIK use the average of MON and RON

so true. for everyday driving, you don't need an F1 car to beat someone in turns. (may be you do..) there are people, cars, bumps, oil spills, poles, potholes on the road that you just can't drive your car to the limit everyday. I'll choose AMG over M anyday for luxury, torque, comfort, styling, and speed.

Shell optimax here in the uk is 98 octane, bp ultima is 97 octanes.

O..60 in just under 6 secs, thats not cool at all, the engine according to MBUK should run on nothing less than 97 actanes as the power it will generate is not optimum for the engine.

Autocar, again a uk based respective car/test magazine achieved a 0..60 in 4.6 secs in a C32 using just shell optimax fuel, quite a difference in the fuels you guys running your motors with. Wanna group buy some fuel guys ??
