lined up at a light with a 2004 S4...and he bit
So on my way home from the hangout I stop and a light and found myself next to a red 2004^ Audi S4. The 2002 and up models started comming with a V8 and kept the same AWD platform...not to be reckoned with from a dig.
From the first light we lined up and he looked over and asked me "are you ready?"... i reply "anytime when you are, hey wait is that thing AWD"... he smiles and grins!!! Light turns green and low and behold, my RWD C32 holeshot the AWD S4 by 1/2 a car and I kept on pullin and pullin.
At the next light, he tells me "dammmnnn that thing moves". We line up again and he tells me lets go again. This time i hear him powerbraking nasty (holding both the brake and gas at the same time to load the launch, very affective on AWD automatic cars with lots of low end torque, say from a V8). So I brake boost and load up the torque converter a bit. Light turns green and low and behold I get an even better launch and holeshot him by 1 car this time and kept on pulling.
Great way to end the night!! It goes to show how somebody whos learned their car in and out can make a difference. I cant wait for winter cool weather to roll around.

Bit of trivia: the Tiptronic was optional, but avoided the gas guzzler tax that went with the manual, so cars with either drivetrain were essentially the same asking price.

You should be able to take him anyway.(with a good launch)
What mods do you have on your car?

Just do the numbers. The C32 stock has 9hp on the S4 and is 3500lbs versus 3800lbs. The results shouldn't be a surprise.
FWIW: The Cab has about another 200lbs of weight. I raced my friend from about a 10mph roll (getting on the expressway). He was driving my C32. The C32 pulled about 5 cars on me to 80. If that's not a beating, I don't know what is... :p I do like the AMG speedshift transmission much better. It seems to be a lot faster and more brutal when changing gears, but the Audi paddle shifters are so cool.

I think part of it is the lack of low end torque -- for some reason it feels like the car does have a turbo since it doesn't really start to move until about 3-4k.

Not to drive this into the ground but I thought that atleast in the US, the V8 S4 started as an 04 model?

hey benzo.. i see your c32 is renntech... now correct me if im wrong... but an 04 s4 should not even have a chance against your c32 even if it was stock right... just wondering because i am in the market of either a s4 or c32...and i am leaning strongly towards a c32 because of the cheap prices right now...but i heard that the c32 is right up there with the m3 stock which would leave the s4 far behind..oh and yes the s4 just came out with its first v8 in 04"
