That's everything you need to do the full SL55 intake. Just order it all from the dealer. They may ask you for a SL55 VIN #. You can get one off eBay.

Anyway, it's a fairly straightforward installation.

you can get just the first 7 and have a full sl55 intake conversion, i.e. the front engine cover is not absolutely necessary, correct? i remember reading that you can use your stock c32 front engine cover with sl55 airboxes, y-connector, hoses and inlets, without any modification.

If I recall correctly, the stock cover does not line up with the slots on the SL55 airboxes, so you'll have to modify it to some extent. Plus it looks pretty bad. You can always leave the cover off. But it wasn't too hard to modify the SL55 cover... Dremel, glue, an hour...

The kit you are reffering to is just SL55 splitter with hoses and adapters.

Which is an option if you want to significantly reduce the chance that the dealer nitices your mod. Also, if you deal with a lot of rain and flooding/water, you may want to stick with this option as it maintains the stock baffles on the intake tubes. The SL55 tubes are unobstructed.

Unless dealer pays attention both C32 and 55 air boxes look very similar, except 55 is 25% bigger.

The baffles indside C32 inlets are mufflers, designed to quiet intlet noise down. I would not worry about getting water inside the engine, one would have to be in 3 ft. water for it to happen.

So, the kit will work as is for 2-3hp but if I want to do the full conversion I will require the following still right?

1130900601 $ 98.00 Airbox #1
1130900501 $ 98.00 Airbox #2

On C/SLK32 the rear splitter that collects air inlets from air boxes is restrictive. The one from SL/E55 fits, but needs hose adapters and new hoses. This is what our SL55 splitter kit is.

As far power gains, on stock car you will get 2-3HP, on Stage II car we get close to 5-7 HP at the wheels.

So, the kit will work as is for 2-3hp but if I want to do the full conversion I will require the following still right?

1130900601 $ 98.00 Airbox #1

Yes, add Green filters you will see close to 10HP.

You have to extensively modify the front of the SL55 airboxes - particularly the right one (where the oil filter is). It's very noticeable. Even if you use the SL55 cover, it is not a perfect mod or fit and you can tell - especially once you handle the oil filter.

The more basic mod (just the splitter and hoses Vadim described above) would be very hard to see.

A MB lead tech told me about the water mitigation function of the C32 inlet tube baffles and to use some caution in extensive rain or flood conditions (where water could be splashed up into the grille). I haven't noticed any increase in intake noise.

Hmmm, I do not know where he got his info from. It is not mentioned in C32 training manual, nor in service manual and in reality they are just baffled resonators. They have no water to drain out, so they will just get filled with it.

No other AMG cars have them and they have a very similar intake setup. For that matter all MB cars have the same twin ram-air inlet.

My ex-cars: 03 E55,04 C32, 05 C55 ,03 E320
It only mentions Stage II getting 10 HP gain..

How about Evosport Stage I C32s? how much gain can we expect with just the hose and splitter and greenfilters on a stage I car?

D-star : Evo Sport already has the phenolic spacers for the C32. I believe you posted a link to them 2 posts back

Wawy: The complete conversion is not that that diffucult. If you do a search there were a couple posts a while back with full d.i.y. instructions. Need any more help feel free to ask

same situation with me..

i have the green filters and don't want to buy new ones if not needed.

I'm thinking of doing the plugs and wires first and the IC pump replacement than the ECU.

sL-55 is not that high in the list, it would be nice to have.

The SL55 air boxes are larger than the C32. The filters from the 32 will not fit the the 55's boxes

TopGun32 :" I'm thinking of doing the plugs and wires first and the IC pump replacement than the ECU "

Replaceing the plugs/wires and the IC pump are great to do, especially the IC pump for reliabilty. But they wont really give you any hp. The ecu will give you some more hp, but would yeild more hp if combined with some combination of the 55's intake mods. Either the Evo Sport Y piece or the full 55 intake ( Y piece and air boxes)

The C32 filters will not fit the SL55 airbox. The C55 filters do though.

correct..

the wire and plugs are an easy mod.. and the IC Pump is more of reliability. Right now, I feel the car very inconsistent. Obviously the heat is really affecting its performance.

Even if the Bosch pump is the same, I rather have piece of mind that its new and in good working order.

The ECU obviously is the horsepower mod, but at this point I dont think its really worth $1k for 15RWHP. I have to do it eventually, I just need to find a good deal. I'm thinking of going with SpeedTuning, but it would be a hassle to send my ECU and take before and after dynos.
