C55->M3 in 2006
I think I will , as because upgrade to C63 will be long and cost more
1. Historically, C-Class W204 (if this is what we like to call it) will launch
12 months after launch of S-Class. (and, S-Class technology will also be implemented to Mb's bread and butter C-Class !). This means the new C will be ready to order ~ Q1 2007. By that time, E90 will be almost two year old. And, I am doubt E46 M3 will get any decent sales in 2006. It is reasonable to assume M3 will launch in Q2 2006. Looking back, C32 was quite late since new launch of W203 - at least this is our case locally.
2. About price, that is pretty relative from places to places. We locally MB dealer has a big markup on AMG models. This is why C55 costs 15-20K more than the M3 E46. I would think C63 will be priced at least the same as C55 or even slightly higher.
3. Do we know launch dates of any 63 on any models ? No.
4. Do you think MB will place 63 engines into C class before the E, CLS, SL to pissss off the richer owners? No.
Get my sense of humour?

Wrong , wrong , wrong and .......wrong.I have been told to my face by Rob Allan of MB that there will be a C63.The price of the vehicle will be "around" 62k.You will hear more confirmation of this fact after our Oct. 8th AMG meet at MBUSA Headquarters.

Hopefully the design looks good.... I don't like the E90's rear.... looks like my Maxima or the old Infiniti G20.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Just talked the my dealer.... his exact quote, I got in email:
"It just so happens that the Mercedes Benz representative is here and he said S Class for sure, E Class is still tenative, C Class he thinks it's just too much engine for that size car and does not immediately forsee it."

1. Even a Cayman still cost 20% more than an M3
2. Not want to pay more for power and fuel just to lift up a heavier body for the same speed.
3. Want better paint color e.g. yellow, red
4. I accepted and began to love E90 styling
5. MB has better, luxury interior - yes , been there , seen it, have owned 2 brand new MBs already
6. RS4 - No, cost 30% more than C55 here - the Audi service center here is outsourced to one which also serves Honda
7. M3 is more popular in resale market
8. Who really care for a Mercedes AMG if it is not prefixed with 'SL'
9. Never owned a M3 , want to experience it
10. The driver looks 10 years younger on M3
Believe me, I still love my C55 so much.

#7 and #9 are very legitimate reasons, I bought my M3 for the same reason. And frankly am buying a C55 for the same reason, I want an AMG.
Just be careful, you are the same guy who was ready to ditch your car after one electrical problem in 11 months. If you think that's bad, go get yourself a brand new model SMG..... you will sell that car within 2 weeks.

And to reference your kompressor comment, the whole point of the 63 engine is that MB is going for all NA engines. That's the whole rationale that the C wont get it. There wont be two flavors, thus it serves MB no good to put the exact same engine in both the C and the E. It would kill their E class sales.

The new 6.2L V8 is naturally aspirated, and there are NO plans to supercharge that. Maybe a twin turbo version in the future, but there will be no Kompressor.
We already know that the M-class AMG is coming as the ML63. It is likely that the S and E (and maybe the CLK) will get the same naturally aspirated engine.
It's obvious you are fortunate enough to enjoy great cars in your life. If you haven't experienced a BMW M machine, I think that is reason enough for you to get the next generation M3 coupe (which won't be out until at least 2007/2008).
Remember, the normal E90 3 series coupe isn't even out yet, and will likely debut as a 2007 model. The current E90 3 series sedan just came out as a 2006 model.
However, it is rumoured that the M version of the E90 3 series 4 door sedan will make its debut in Frankfurt later this month.
