Resonator Delete and Warranty?

Went to Meineke to have the Evosport pipe put in place of my resonator and the the guy scared me out of it. He said the resonator delete would void the MB warranty.

Any truth to this? Should I be concerned or is this mod a big nothing?

He did say that the sound would improve and that there would be an enhancement in performance...how much he had no idea.

THX.

I've had no problems with my dealer doing service and warranty work.

sounds much better, I dont think there is any noticable performance increase

It totally depends on your MB dealer and the relationship you have with them. As you know, I have the complete Kleemann conversion and I took my car in for warranty work just the other day... no problems what so ever.

Not sure as the Meineke guy scared me out of the mod. Temporarily.

What are your thoughts on the mod? A must have?

I would definitely go for it. I just want the exhaust sound louder.

All it does is make your exhaust sound a bit louder. Nothing more, nothing less.

do it!

I had mine done a few weeks back, without telling my wife.

she can't tell the difference.

The mod is great for c32's, much nicer sound, higher rpm pull and throttle response is quicker. For FI cars, its a must.

for c55 i have heard some sound clips and the car sounds nice and mean, much different than the 3.2L.

If one dealer turns you down, go to another one.

the ONLY difference i've noticed is in the sound. no noticeable power gains/losses or mpg gains/losses, just sound

sounds great, guess im going to have the resonater deleted at the same time i get new brake pads and the SL55 intake + those GREENFILTERS

anyone know whats the best way of going about "deletion of the resonator", and would it be a wise thing to do if i was getting the lorinser DTM exhaust?

LOL! Not if they flag your car as being modified and no longer warranty eligible! Every dealer will know.

i just went to some local muffler shop i never heard of and had the resonator removed for like $50.

where did you get your tv/dvd integrated into your command system? i've talked to like 3 different companies and they all say they can do it/ will call me back with a price quote, but never end up calling back. i have a different command system than you but i just want to find a shop that can do it

The Meineke guy is mistaken in the way he worded it. Mercedes Benz will not void your warrantee. You “may” have a portion of your warrantee voided. If an unrelated subsystem dies, such as your horn, the dealer will fix it. If anything related to the removal of the resonator fails, you “may” have to foot the bill. For example, if a baffle in the main muffler fails, or an exhaust bracket breaks, they may tell you you’re on your own. If you come in at some point and claim drivability issues that don’t show up on a scope, the individual dealer may take the easy way out and blame the lack of a muffler, or worse, tell you the resonator must be replaced before additional diagnostics can be performed.

More than likely, nothing will come of this. If you have an expensive failure, like a valve guide for example (this typically shows up as burning oil, dead O2 sensors, and clogged cats), you can be assured that a representative from Mercedes-Benz will closely investigate the likelihood of there being a correlation between your mod and the failure.
