Snow tires help for C32?

Hi there,

I recently leased a 2003 black C32 with 18,000 miles

I live in northern NJ and will need snow tires. I plan to pickup a set of used 17inch AMG rims....with 7.5 in the front and 8.5 in the rear.

Would BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK 215-55-17 snow tires fit the stock or other AMG rims with 7.5/8.5?

Of course, if you know anyone selling rims and/or snow tires that would fit the C32, please shoot me a PM.

Thanks,
Rick

for my C55, i'm running amg 17" 7.5 x 8.5 stagger w/ dunlop sport m3 tires 225-45-17. that is the recommended tire size for C32 also. i've had dunlop sport m2 and m3 winter tires and love them for winter. i highly recommend them.

I would recommend 7.5x17 all around, not staggered. That is what MB recommended for my C55 and it allows rotating. No point staggering for Winter IMO.

Norm

Do you have the 225/45/17's in the front and rear? or are you using the 245/40/17 in the rear?

i'm running 225-45-17 front and rear. it's recommended to run 225-45-17 in rear b/c for winter, the smaller width tires are better in the snow.

Are you sure they're dunlops?

I'm using my stock C32 wheels w/ 225-45 17 Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22. I've used Blizzaks on my last few cars and couldn't be happier.

BTW- Do not get the Blizzak WS-50. Although it is a better snow tire it is not recommended for our C32's.

If TireRack recommends those size tires on the stock rears, I can not comment. However MB recommends 7.5 wheels front and rear for Winter.

Norm

tirerack does not recommend putting 8.5 wheels on the rear, they actually recommend running 7.5 all around, but they say it's ok to use 8.5 but you should still run 225-45-17 tires all around

If you or anyone else lives in a blizzard zone, then go nuts with the 225 on the rear, but I live in an area where it gets real cold, there is ice, and it snows every once in a while. So, I run stock sizes, but with winter compound rubber. I get all the ice grip (better in fact), all the cold performance, better dry traction, and can run up any hill that is covered in less than six inches of snow with no problem.

If you live in a blizzard zone though, you might consider garaging such a rare car that will most likely be slammed into by some knuckle head who didn't realize it was winter.

By the way, I did drop down to 17" sizes (tires are much cheaper) and I needed to buy a new set of wheels anyway, cause I hate mounting and remounting tires and don't feel it is good for tires or wheels. Blizzak LM-22's are the bomb diggity. They grip like a field of corn grips a naked guy running backwards through it.
