Raced? a Saleen 281 Mustang Vert Today
At least I think that he raced. 70-110 on freeway. Got him by 7 or 8 cars. Maybe he didnt punch it (or didnt downshift?) If he did, the 281 (whatever that stands for) is a slug.

Was it a new one? I had a '96 back in the day and it was a pig (230ish crank HP on a 3800 lb. car LOL) until I supercharged it. I haven't kept up with them so I'm not too familiar with the specs on the new ones.

If it was a newer model it could have been either N/A at 325 hp, or S/C'd at 400 hp...Either way while you would have probably would have beat the N/A trim (not sure by 7-8 car lengths unless the driver wasn't really racing) and I would say it would be a close call if it was the S281 in S/C form..
Josh,
Those numbers sound like stock ratings for a GT not a Saleen..

I think the s/c Saleen would possibly win. I pulled up to one on the 405 South in o.c. and tried to provock him, he didn't want to race. Saleen's site may have time stat times.

And yeah, if it was a S/C version it would give you a good run for the money. One beat out my dad's cobra before he S/C'ed it. (Although to be fare the mustang was slightly modded)

01 Mustang GT
Saleens are dogs. They're heavy and barely have anything more on tap than a stock Mustnag GT. Even the S281 S/C is a pretty poor performer, a small inefficient roots blower. The only one worth a damn on numbers is the S281E, which is like over 60K. They're pretty much laughed at by by the rest of the Mustang community.

S351 stopped production in 1999 I think, although I recall seeing somewhere that they made like 50 of them labeled as 2000. Those cars were a lot more rare and a lot better performers than the piece of crap S281's. I don't think all of them had blowers.

I can speak from experience that a Windsor 351 motor in N/A form make 385 hp with GT40 Heads (How it comes from Ford Motorsports). Putting in about 5-6 lbs of boost from a Paxton supercharger (same as Vortec, just designed for carb. engines) It puts out 570 HP. Although that is a good amount of torque.
