kompressor sports are everywhere

i really feel bad for you c32 owners.. i mean i know your car is way better than a kompressor but i must see at least 5 kompressor sports with the amg package going to and from school every day...and not only that most of them are chicks.. i wish they just waited 1 more year and just left the kompressor as is so this wouldnt be happening... i was all about gettin a c32 but there are just too many kompressors around here that look exactly like them. this is starting to have a huge effect on my decision.. i saw a white one today and i could of sworn it was a c32 with a new clk grill and when it drove by it was some fat blond chick with a kompressor.. i know mercedes is def. sellin them and makin alot of money from them cuz i see them everywhere but they should have been more dedicated to keepin thier top mercedes benz enthusiast's happy (amg owners)... anyway..just venting after observing this for a few weeks now...i believe they could have waited another year to make money with thier new c class and kept everyone happy..

So the effect of your decision wanting to own an AMG car is because there are too many of them out there?

he is refering to the C230k 2005 sprot sedans that have teh AMG kit.

I agree it takes away from the exclusivity of the C32 but the C32 is so much better (i have a daily driver C230k and had a C32) that the pleasure of ownership should make up for the lack of bling bling. If you want the style get an M3 maybe.

My C230k has C32 brakes and amg wheels... i should put the twim tip exh on it just to tick C32 owners off. Fear not I will never put C230k on the back...

I took E55k off the back of my car but I will always leave the C230k on the back because im not trying to be a poser.

C32 is a great car. dont let the 2005 sprots change ur mind.

its nothing about wanting to be flashy.. i acutally prefer to have a sleeper car than have a attention grabber like a m3...and there is nothing better than amg side skirts IMO.. it just sucks that im finally ready to get a car and now they make the sport look just like them.. i dont know tho.. maybe i will still get one... if not im gonna grab a b5 s4 from manheim and just max it out and save the rest of my money .. the reason im being so picky is this is my first car that i will own and actually be able to do stuff to and have fun with....

when you get in to a C32 or a C55 you will forget about how the c230 looks, I just love getting pinned on the AMG seats.

MBUSA does not make that much on a C230k...compare the price of a US spec C230k with a C230k in similar setup anywhere else on the globe and you will see that those cost 1.5 to 3 times as much as the DEAD CHEAP US spec C230k does...
and - why exactly is it that the amg owners are to be comsidered the top mercedes enthusiast? and - why exactly should they be kept happy and not the bigger majority of non amg MB owners?

greetingz,

because people that own amg are much more educated about mercedes benz than an average joe that decides he needs a new car andjust buys the first benz he sees on the show room...not only that... that same person that just goes and buys a benz off the show room might pick a bmw or audi for his next car while the amg owners seem loyal... i mean i worked at a benz dealership for 4 years and noticed who was coming back for a new car and amg owners were the most familiar faces..

Similar or not the average joe would not be able to tell the difference between C230 SS and C32 AMG. One sleeper I would not mind having.

The compressors aren't the same, either. AMG uses a Lysholm unit, 230's get an Eaton. There's a thread in the S-class forum about Eaton superchargers :0) But it sounds as if you're more interested in looks than performance so I suppose that doesn't make a difference. If you don't want to look like all the other C-classes then either mod your car or buy a different one :0)

you should really broaden your horizon - there is lot more going on in this world then whatever happens in the US

If any kind of driver is to be taken loyal to the brand mercedes, it is the average european taxi driver in his mercedes diesel!

US AMG owners are not that different from US non AMG owners...AMG owners swap from Ms to AMGs and back no other then that non AMG owners swap from BMW to MB and back.

listen.. im not trying to argue with you... as you can see i was basing my post on my area where i live in new jersey in the US... if i was talkin about mercedes ownership arouind the whole world i would have stated so.... but if you scroll up to my original post u can see i was talkin about my area.. as far as what goes on over there... i really have no clue and it honestly doesnt concern me because i am basing my observation on what i see around here.. and i see an abundance of kompressors with the sport package now that they have amg kits and it just turned me off a little being that i was considering a c32 soon...i didn;t want to turn this into a big argument thread so im sorry if i offended you...i was just a little frustrated with what i have been seeing lately..

ahhhh I see what you're saying - sport package is basically the AMG cladding so now, unless you read the engine designation (230 vs 32) and all you see in a passing glance is "kompressor" the car is super common. That makes sense. My suggestion would be to buy the C32 if you like the way it drives, then mod it. Debadge it, get a different kit/rims/etc and sell what you take off to a 230k driver with no sport package. :0) Then you have a car that's fun to drive, hauls ***, and looks different from everyone else's :0))

I actually don't mind. My C32 is debadged so it looks even more like a C230. I passed a guy the other day on the highway driving a C230 Kompressor that was the same color as mine. He immediately pulls in behind me and starts riding my a$$. I was like you've got to be kidding me. He quickly realized I wasn't driving a C230. I just love to see the expression on peoples faces when I smoke passed them. I was toying with a vette today and the guys face was priceless. I love this car!!

Isn't that the greatest? I love the holy **** factor of a debadged car. :0) I had an STi throw revs at me at a stop light causing his blowoff valve to go pssshhhh. I threw revs right back, and his eyes got as big as saucers when I threw revs back and he heard a benz making a similar blowoff valve sound. I then proceeded to hand him his ***. Man I've taken this way off topic but yeah. I love when people mess with you and have no idea what's really under the hood :0)

I think your generalizing with that comment you made above.... just because someone doesn't own an AMG doesn't mean they are any less educated that one that does own an AMG. I think perfect examples are Sunil and Steve. They both don't own AMG's but know SOOOO much more about MB's than most of us. I dont own an AMG because I cannot afford one.... Buy the C32 and be happy that it will blow the doors off of most of the cars on the road......

As a new 05 230K owner with a touch of buyers-remorse, this thread made me feel much, much better. It also locked up my debadging debate!

Am I missing something here? How could anyone who knows anything about MBZ mistake the C-sport for a C32? I have seen the new C-sport, and I can distinguish it from a C32 in about two seconds.

How about I let you in on a little secret: The majority of the public, probably 90%, has no idea what an AMG is. Even better, they have no idea what a C, E, or S class is, or what the difference is. The fact is that we MBZ enthusiasts are in delusion land about the exclusivity/curb appeal of our cars. The Benz sedans are stealth beasts. If you want people to gawk, buy a 50s Vette or a Ferrari. If you want to haul **** without much recognition, the AMG is your baby.

I don't feel bad.

I toy with the 230k all the time. Not all, but some of the people that bought the car really thought they own the world and drive like asses. I usually just slowly drive by them and they usually slow down right away after I passed them, and some of them are stupid enough to want to race me.

speaking of looking the same. I saw this maroon SLK320 or 230 with AMG sport pkg on the way back from Santa Barbara and guess what the guy has badged it on the trunk? yup, SLK 32 AMG. There weren't a lot of traffic, so I probably circled around him like twice trying to egg him to go, but no bite. His passenger was a female...and probably was thinking about not embrassing himself. I knew he had saw me cuz I saw him took couple glimps over. I wonder if the guy is on mbworld.

2003 C32 AMG
D WIG..... get the C55

I got my C32 brand new in 2003. I understand where your coming from in terms of the AMG, and how it should be a little more exclusive than the "normal" MB. ****, we pay for it. Performance and looks! All show and All go. Before the 05 Kompressor came out, I knew my "c class" was just different from everyone else. But in the end, Mercedes WILL ALWAYS share their AMG enhancements with the normal models with the exception of the motor and tranny. Nothing we say will change that. So enjoy the performance value that a C32 can give you.

If the C class is what you really want with a little more differentiation, then get a preowned C55. At least that has the different front end, rear end with dual exhaust, THE V8, The fingertip shift steering wheel. Sure you cant get the bang for the buck upgrades like the C32 in terms of pulley kits, but that V8 sound and torque is intoxicating. By all means I would of gotten the c55 if it was available in 03.

I second that suggestion if you have the means and are able to find a pre-owned C55. The C55 will always be "unique" in its exterior appearance, as the next C-AMG will likely be based on the W204 chassis.
