What has your son done to you that you would have a deathwish for him? It is almost a certainty that a 17 year old with 400+HP will die in an auto accident. Unfortunately for the rest of us on the So. Cal. freeways, he might take one of us out with him. Would you really trust a car that has self-ejecting wheels to your offspring?

Do all of us a favor; sell the car and buy him a nice Mini or some other 4 cylinder car.

No worries. I installed a self-ejecting seat in case that happens. Seriously I'm done with replica wheels. They may look identical to the real thing but I did'nt realize that they want to escape from their owner like a wild stallion. I've got Original 3-piece rims this time.

That wasn't because they were replicas. The more I read, the more I want to shake you and yell WAKE UP!

Should I go with Powerchip or SpeedtuningUSA?

After 14 months of futile attempts to hit 400rwp. I've decided to go to Evosport and get the Powerchip installed for $1,490. Did they overcharge me?

I gave up on SpeedInnovations and I changed my mind on going with another independent tuner in Fremont since I don't want to send my ECU to a guy I never met before who does not have his own dyno.

I have an appointment this Wednesday to get dyno'd and data logged so it can be sent to Powerchip.

Should I keep my appointment or does anybody recommend somebody else that is ESTABLISHED (Not a freelance/independent tuner). Can anybody make a strong case for Kleemann, Renntech, Brabus, Carlsson, GIAC, SpeedtuningUSA OR ANY other MB chip tuning specialists?

Has SpeedtuningUSA solved the problems that caused quite a few negative experiences?

Have you spoke with Powerchip? I spoke with them three times, and I got the impression that they know very little about MB tuning, and were not able to provide anything beyond the most basic services. I paid $990, and now feel that that is overpriced since Kleeman and Renntech offer their ECU services for $1000, and that includes competent support and future tunes. I realize that neither Kleeman nor Renntech would touch your car with a 100 ft pole (with good reason), so I guess Powerchip is your only option.

I had powechip in my car before it I supercharged it and honestly it was a waste of time. I got the software for free but all the time I spent going back and forth to their shop was a joke. Also when they gave me back my car my ABS ESP lights would never go off and my shifter would not lock anymore. This cost me $1500 to fix because of Powerchips tampering.
Just my thoughts and 2cents

Dyno before Powerchip Tuning

Let's see if Powerchip can take this over 400rwhp. The first run is with the Coolmist Stage 2 off. This is with 91 Octane Costco Gas and stock ECU. As you can see my Air/Fuel dips below 10 immediately at part throttle!

I thought you sold yours as well after getting the Z06. Can't wait to see you mod that thing!!

I called Cory@Kleemann and the Renntech guy at Meridian and they both told me that they cannot tune a competitors supercharger. Brabus in Newport Beach told me the same. However, Oliver at SpeedtuningUSA will custom tune my car for $350 + $200 until he gets it right. I am sending him my data logs tonight. I'm starting to have some doubts about Powerchip based on the last two postings from Mario and jgsx. I may cancel my appointment if I don't get some positive feedbacks here in a day or two. Of course, I'm also interested in getting the Evosport Underdrive pulley kit, phenolic spacers and Quaife for a C55 so that might sway me to go with Powerchip. I'm still trying to figure out who makes the best yet reasonably priced header and exhaust system.

I think Powerchip can retune my chip for $50 if I decide to go with the Kleemann or Renntech SC later. Am I correct?

I thought evosport wasn't going to touch the car? Why would anyone knowingly walk into such a nightmare?

Btw...That Coolmist is a blast! I have a few 5 gallon drums of ethanol in my garage but the car gulps it like gatorade! Is there any damage to the pump if I turn it off during these cold days lately? Did you ever turn yours off?

I kept the C and got the Z. hehe

If I were you, just start from scratch! take everything off the car, I mean everything. And start fresh!
I would even sell the C - take the hit, get a new C and start over.
Just my thoughts.

So if you plan to get a Kleemann or RENNtech blower soon why not just go back to stock and start fresh. Throwing more cash at the mess is really just a lost cause. Sounds like the car makes less power than a C32 these days so just go back stock and get the program set for the real round of mods with Kleemann OR RENNtech.

You have tried to make this car work for you but at this point cut your losses and just go back to the way it came! You wont regret that. Just go with one tuner next time and leave it at that.

As you can see the blower is making the 7 lbs of boost. What else could be wrong?

Lets see, how about the design of the kit. Boost is simply a measure of backpressure inside the blower manifold.

If it is a bad, restrictive design than instead of pushing air inside the engine, it allows it to stack up and create boost.

That's funny I've seen the most heavily modded C32's here on the forums, making no more than 355 rwhp and that's w/Dyna Pak dyno, where they remove your rear wheels, there's no rolllers, or tires/wheels to loose power thru, ie..5-10% lower results on a real Dyno Jet... meaning the C32 modded rwhp is more like 300-325rwhp in reality

So basically what you are saying is that the boost is not being converted into horsepower output. Whats' the best place to measure boost other than inside the plenum? Can it be done?

If your answer is true, which I've heard from some others, then there is nothing more I can do to this kit.

I turn my off all the time. I only turn it on when I want to have fun. If you leave it on all the time you will go throught it way too fast.

No it doesn't. That's a dyno dynamics dyno. If anything, this dynamics dyno is optimistic, or the dyno jet at Mechtech is conservative.
