Maybach Throttle Body on C55??

Over on the E55 forum they are talking about getting 25 to 30 rwhp increase with a larger throttle body ie: Maybach TB at 80mm The Maybach will fit on the 55 engine as confirmed by Vadim at EVOSPORT. I think the TB on the C55 is 74mm (please correct me if I am wrong)

https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/130346-maybach-throttle-body-vs-bored-stocker.html.

The Maybach TB can be had for around $1200.00cad which would look like a fairly inexpensive way to get 25 to 30 extra ponies or am I missing something here??

Heh with the KLEEMANN ECU Upgrade, some GREEN filters and the Maybach TB I could be over 400hp.......

The E55 is a SC motor and the C55 is NA how is the TB the same? 25hp is speculative and would not be the same for a NA motor. That $1200 might by you 6hp if it fit.

I guess you didn't read the other thread......

The same Bosch throttle body is used on all 3-valve motors (430, 500, 55 and 55K) and also on C32s.

Both Renntech and KLEEMANN are talking 25 to 30 hp gains and Evosport shows a preliminary dyno at 15hp. I'm not sure why the gains wouldn't be the same on a NA vs SC engine when your talking less restiction. Can you be more specific??

well the maybach has 80 so its walls would be thinner too right? I know a guy on club202 who bored his tb to 80mm safely, he has a c43, would the maybach tb work on older 5.4 engines like the one from an e55 or e/clk/c 43/430

My understanding is that the Maybach TB is a different animal that happens to fit the 55. I may be wrong.....

so if the Maybach TB fits on the M113 Kompressor motor then it should fit on the M112 Kompressor motor as well am I correct? All plugs and mounting positions are the same? This is one very inconspicuous mod that dealer will not notice and yeilds a great gain.

Vadim, have you tried this on you C32?

OK, let me clarify couple of things:

1. The gains on Normally Aspirated (NA) (i.e. C55, E55, CLK55, 430s) are not likely to be as big (15HP). 55K are pushing close to 600HP, while NA 55s are around 360HP. We are talking close to 80% delta in airflow demand. My guess 5-7HP is a more likely gain.

2. Stock 74 mm TB can only be increased reliably to 76 mm.

3. Maybach TB is 80 mm stock and has a different bolt pattern that will require an adapter to fit intake manifold.
4. I will be testing it on my C32, and I will post R&D as allways.
