the best choice would be the Brabus springs if used on a Mercedes...sounds like "obviously?!!" but thas wut i was told buy an expert 2 days ago...with the same setting, same height and same road condition...19s will rub on H&R and the Brabus wont...in canada the price after installation is abt 500$Cad at the shop i go to and 700$Cad for Brabus...around just a hundred USD difference here...i definitly choose Brabus ^^

if you're only going to change springs, get the renntechs. if you're going to change shocks as well, you'd be fine with an H&R or Eibach setup.

i don't want to mention any names of who quoted me that, but i though it was high.

6 hours of installations for springs seems high. I would think for coil overs, yes but for springs alone.

if anybody knows of a good shop in so cal that installs renntech or brabus, please let me know.

That seems pretty high.. I was quoted 2k for a full PSS9 install, a little less for H&R coilover.. I have seen H&R springs as low as 250 - 350 for a set, I can't believe that it would be 650-750 bucks to install..

Has anybody mentioned that you should be sure to have the car's alignment re-done/checked after the install? I always do that when I change-out or mod the suspension on one of my cars.....

I think the rear are not adjustable. you have to buy some camber arms for about $250.... if you want to have it ajustable.

well... i was quoted 6 hours @ $95 dollars for spring install....

it was the same for coil overs or just the springs (H&R).

the $1000 quote did include $120 alignment.
I would think that 6 hours of labor, should cover the alignment as well?

again.. if somebody knows a shop in So Cal that will install in about 3 hours? let me know.

I would think I should pay $500 to $600 to get just springs and alignment.

$300 springs + $75x 3 hours = $450 + $100 alignment

does it sound right?

No it wouldn't be a waste of money to go with H&R. If you search a little more you'll be surprised at how many people that are running H&R springs. Different company's/brands offer different spring rates inches of drop. I preferred H&R because the drop was lower and I wanted to pay for lowering springs and not springs that were considered lowering springs and didn't even lower more than 1".

I paid..

250 for springs
70 for labor
40 for alignment

Just to give you a ball park at how much you should be spending...

Doesn't sound right. You are paying way to much..300 sounds ok for the springs but installation and alignment is a bit to much. I can refer you to one of my buddys motorsports shop if you were in Nor Cal...

I was quoted $571 out the door for H&R springs, installation, and alignment. I thought it was pretty reasonable. They also told me the drop would be 1 inch.

CLKonDUBS, where in NorCal would you recommend I go? I live in the Sacramento area.

I've never actually owned a C32 myself and done the suspension mods. I did however almost buy a C32 about three years ago and looked into the suspension mod issue quite seriously for about a year because this is one area in which the C32 is lacking in OEM trim. I knew at least 6 or 7 guys who modded their suspension with different aftermarket components. This is what I learned from them, and what I know from personal experience from doing suspension mods on so many of my other cars.
MercedesSC32 - this is what I can tell you from my experience:
If you want a seriously better handling suspension on a C32, go with the Bilstein PSS9 or the Carlsson equivalent (I just can't remember what they call theirs). This was, and still may be, the best suspension out there for a C32; and the difference is night-and-day. It is not inexpensive - but it will transform the car.
If you're just looking for drop, then this is what I have to say about the H&R's and Eibachs: I have H&R springs on a bunch of my cars. You will tend to get a little more drop with these than with most other non-'track' or 'Sport 2' springs. Your actual drop without changing the shocks will most likely be more than quoted; and your drop with a shock change will almost always be more than you expected. They are progressive and so are not too stiff under normal driving, but you will notice them with stuff like potholes, railroad tracks, and speed bumps. When you really load them up (say in a tight turn or under higher G's at speed) they are rock-steady. They are high quality springs and are very highly engineered, and alot of track cars use them.
The Eibachs are also a good spring. In my experience they tend to drop just a little less than the H&R's, and tend to be softer on the street -- which could be a good thing.
I don't know a damn thing about the Renntech or Brabus springs -- other than whose label is on them!
Good luck in your quest; just wanted to help if I could.
Oh, and we want pics when you're done!

I used to live off Fairway Drive, I know exactly where this place is.

I will send them an e-mail and see how much?

They sell Brabus, H&R and Eiback.

The Brabus kits goes for $450, i'm pretty sure you can knock off atleast $50 bucks to that price.

I will have them quote a total price.

thanks,

Joe
