there is absolutely NOTHING in the car that is DUTCH...even in teh Netherlands (the country where they talk DUTCH) people have to choose between an english instrument cluster or a german instrument cluster as there is no dutch text in the instrument cluster...

I had mine done a couple weeks ago at Glauser MB in Denver. Everything is still in english. all it does is chirp once when unlocked and three times when locking. Cost an hour labor, though.

Can't be a DIY unless you are MBenzNL or sunman with all the right tools.

To eliminate having to look back to see the flash to make sure the car locked. Nice feature IMO.

Is this something that I can request to have done prior to taking delivery of my new car that is on a boat at the moment??? If so, what other settings would you suggest having changed??? This is my first Mercedes so I have no clue what is available. Does the "Netherlands" setting only change the alarm chirp, or does it do something else as well???

More importantly to me, is there a technically correct description of what we want done that we can mention to our SAs? I know that if you go and say you want 'the Netherlands' setting, they are going to look at us like a dog looks at a sound he doesn't understand. Can't we save them the fuss of tracking this down by saying "I would like the 1105-04-53 software loaded, this is commonly refered to as the Netherlands setting and just changes the way the alarm notification works". (note that I just made that number up as an example).

Thanks!

Just tell them you want the chirp when you lock the car. They will know what to do. It should not cost anything either.

My dealer told me they never heard of it and have no idea how to change it and if they were able to change it it would void my factory warranty. That wasn't the response I was looking for LOL

The settings has to be done using the star diagnostic laptop. It will not change the language of the display. At first, my dealer thought that it can be done using the menus. It will not void warranty either. Your dealer is a BSing you.

I remember now my SA mentioned something about "rear SAM," which is the rear located interface (I think?). Hope this helps.

I took my C55 in for the B service yesterday. When the car was returned, it has a very quiet chirp or beep, twice when I lock the car, and once when I unlock. I did not ask for this, and don't know if I like it or not. I know that they worked on the panic alarm and changed something because they said it was not loud enough. Anyway, do the cars that have the netherlands chirp make a loud sound? Mine can only be heard about 25 feet away.

It does chirp but it beeps 3 times when locking and once when unlocking.

Check to make sure your panic button works. If they changed the valet setting you could lose your panic button (according to the manual). The Netherland allows the beep to be audible without losing the panic function.

Yes, normally it's 3 beeps to arm and 1 beep to disarm. (but Steve can do more )
Beep is not that loud... similar to Lexus IMO...

Your are right, 3 times on lock. I am suprised at how quiet it is, but this is a lot better than the very loud chirps on other cars.
