Took on the Cayman S
I hit it and I must say I stayed even with him for quite awhile. He started to pull at around 70 or so but just barely. I couldn't believe all the smoke blowing out his exhaust!
This stock c32 still amazes me that it basically keeps up with so many newer and supposedly hotter cars on the road. When we took a corner hard for round two, he took it nicely while my tail slid out wildly. I stayed on it and had some fun keeping up with him again for a short burst (my esp was off).
Great times...
but weight is an advantage... also weight distribution
it runs low 13's (13.2, 13.3xx +)
trap speed a bit higher than a C32 but I would call it a wash.
1 extra gear does help as well..
stock for stock, the cayman driver should win if he knows his car very well. With an average driver, it will loose most of the time. Catch the cayman on the wrong gear and power band, and it will not be able to make up the difference. I give props to the Cayman for not having that much HP and Torque and being able to pull some respactable numbers.
For being a 4 year old car, it is cool to keep up.
I hope to have fun with one, (they'll probably think I'm stock)

From a stop the CaymanS had a quick start and was ahead for about 60 feet after that it was all SLK, from 50 it wasn't even close. I would think that a C32 would perform about the same, maybe a touch slower, but it should not be beaten by the CaymanS unless there was considerable wheel spin. I've owned a C32, a C55 and now the SLK55 the three cars are very close as far as stock acceleration.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Either way, with traction, this car really is really a strong runner. I can't believe how well the motor performs while at the same time I can't believe how crappy the suspension set up is, both in terms of traction (yes, better tires would help) and especially with body roll and overall steering feel. This baby needs some help!!! Wish I had the cash to do what many of you have done. I can only imagine how great this car could be...
