Pics with PSS9s, but have some questions

Well, here's some pics with the drop and the summer shoes on. The coilovers have not been "setup" because the dealership was confused with the clearance or lack thereof. I've included some pics and I know that Sdsilverm3 had the same type of problems with his KWs, but my drop is nowhere near as aggressive and i was wondering if this was normal and/or safe. The guy at the dealership said that the clearance is razor thin and wondered about the safety of this setup and said damage may occur under hard cornering or over big bumps (due to things like soft bushings used on these vehicles causing movement in the suspension and components then rubbing). Did other guys with coilovers experience these clearance problems and what are their thoughts. I think that Neal's setup even had some tire rub against the shock. Help! I'm dying to get this setup, aligned and then drive it!!

Have to say that without even really pushing things, the car feels tight.

I know that the car's dirty, but I just picked it up from the dealership and didn't have time to wash it

E90 ride on PSS9

I just have got my car back from a friend running a garage who has installed PSS9 for my E90 330i. It is much lower and the rear only rubs lightly when it is over big bump. The stiffness has yet to be improved/adjusted this weekend, as at present, the car feels like a boat

The E90 stock wheels were
F225,J7.5 17" , R225 J7.5 17"
now changed to:
RAYS G-GAMES 99B 19"; BFGoodrich g-Force Profiler 225/8.5,265/9.5; Bilstein PSS9 Coilover Suspension.
The offsets of the 99B seem perfectly matching the E90; we did not think the tires will rub the shocks. I thought the only way is to increase the stiffness of the shocks. May I know what are the settings for your front and rear as I know there is a scale of 1-9 , and 9 is the highest stiffness setting.

I do not know much about Pss9 technically nor I know the setup for the C-class. My impression on your setup is you should get it lowered further so that the shocks are not visible.
Just photos to share.

Wow, that's a sweet looking e90. perfect drop. I have the pss9s set at 5 right now, but haven't driven around too much yet. I've read several posts of guys setting it at 6 for city driving.

Thanks. May I know all yoru front and rear settings? My E90 feels like a boat nto sure if that was '6' . I thought 6 should be stiffer , right? I probably will ask them to set it to 7+. Please may I have suggestion how to test and tune it properly?

i'm surprised that it feels like a boat, because i've heard that even at 9 that it should be an improvement over stock. although at 9 it may be "bouncy" and that's what you may be referring to.

I just took the car for a spin and checked for any rub against the shock and there doesn't seem to be any even with the razor thin clearance. Hopefully I won't need any spacers.

I was told that in the scale of 1 to 9 , 9 is the highest stiffness setting. My car may be set to "6" at present . I really want to know what settings you have used for front and rear. Please advise.

Wow. The clearance on your car is the worst I've seen with PSS9's. What offset are your wheels? If you're already driving it around and it doesn't touch then I would say that it will never touch as mine has not either. It just looks super scary close.

looks like the tire is touching the shock. I wouldn't recommand you to drive like that. You should run a 3mm thing spacer to get some space between the rim and the shock.

I second the need for a spacer. I wouldn't be able to enjoy the car knowin that the situation is what it is right now.

Off topic, the E90 has THE PERFECT drop...period...

If those BBS's have a hub-centering ring you might be able to get BBS wheel specific spacers. They'll cost you a little more but sure do eliminate any chance of vibration you get with other spacers. Give BBS a call or FrankW might be able to help you out.

I think that the offset is 35, but i'm not 100% sure as i got the wheels with the car. I've already ordered a set of 5mm H&R spacers for the front, cuz it takes a week to get in. I also talked to a guy this morning that has done several of these coilover kits in MBs and will be taking my car to him tomorrow to have a look.

I'll post comments as i go along. Thanks for the comments guys!

et35 offset is too little for the front wheels. The 5mm you ordered will be perfect and you can lower the front more. Just for reference Brabus 19x8.5 for W203 are et30 and Carlsson runs et28 to avoid the rims or tires contacting the shocks and springs.

The ones that move me
If the wheel is the BBS RE, the offset should be 35, 8" wide wheel.
Let us know how it turns out
Do you use a spacer on the back wheels?

Not sure if you were referring to Furious's car or my E90?

Furious, your V6 kompressor badge is about an inch too low. Doesn't look right.

Thanks. I am having my PSS9 tuned tommorrow by my friend. I will ask him to check if the front left wheel is touching the shocks and springs as I had heard rubbing metal sounds once when I was over some bumps with fully loaded passengers. I think I will ask him to set to the possible highest stiffness.

Believe me, I haven't been able to enjoy it!

BTW I was ordering some wheel spacers today and there was a guy there with a 2006 S4 that was sooo antsy to race. But he was having his ecu flashed and you guys know the situation I'm in. Maybe we'll run across each other in the future
