Has anyone ever had to replace theirs? How much are they. I have insurance but was thinking it might be less that $500? Is it special order? Thanks for any replies.

I think all most insurances will cover glass.... of course that’s minus the deductible

Yeah deductable is $500. Think it would be more than that? Wonder how much of a pain in the @#$ it would be to replace though. Looks like the rear view mirror needs to be taken down. And the glass looks special.

have the dealer get you the glass... if you get an aftermarket windshield your rain sensor wont work any more if you have rain sensors.

dealer quoted my 700 as well however my service advisor hooked me up and told me to call directly the outside company that does the winshield installs for the dealership. i got it done for $500 and it only took a couple of hours.

make sure to ask for factory glass.

i got mine done at the dealers for just shy of $500.

as a side note, i've noticed that mercedes glass is "softer" or more chip prone than bmw glass. i had a bmw for 10 years with over 100K miles and not one chip or cracked windshield.

had the c55 for 10K miles before it was cracked by a rock and now 10K after the new glass was installed, i can see some tiny chips on the windshield developing.

I've replaced it TWICE! (rocks from trucks on interstate) About $625 both times. You can ONLY get the glass from the dealer. My dealer used an outside installer. Did an excellent job both times.

In four years, mine has cracked twice also!

Initially I though I was just an unlucky person, but now I know, MB windshield is softer.

A small pin-head-size chip will develop into a long 4" crack in a few min. Unless you stop your car on the freeway and drop some crazy glue on the crack immediately.

Had mine replaced last month for $470. My insurance, Geico, has a deal with a glass company and got me a little better price than retail.

Wow! I got robbed!

I had my windshield replaced last Monday and it cost me $712.03 (the glue they used or sealer was $120!!!) but my deductible is $250 so I called my insurance co. and they will pick up the rest of the tab.

Check with the dealer and they are showing two in stock. So good news is i won't have to wait to long . I think I remember the parts guy saying $480 for the winshield. Looking at that guy trying to find the "right" one with my VIN tells me that MB glass is the ONLY one to go with. The installer won't be able to fit me in until Tuesday. Looks like i'm out $500 (deductable) but at least it will be perfect match without any worries about the rain sensor working. Dewey...good to hear that they did a nice work. The installer at MB Boerne is supposed to be good. We'll see. Thanks guys for the repllies.

I got mine done too but i didn't buy it from Mercedes. It cost me about $400 CDN. A few days later, i got another stone chip. So i went and patched it up, just in case it cracks even more

480 bucks with labor for an OEM windshield? Are you sure that includes labor as well?

well since he said the parts guy said 480 bucks, it is probably just for the winshield without installation.
