V8 Badging

Hey everyone, before I get any "you shouldnt badge your car" questions, id like to know simply if anyone knows a place where i can get the V8 badge for the side of the car (the same V8 Kompressor the E55 has, minus the Kompressor [so basically, just saying V8]). I think it looks pretty nice after seeing a picture, so i decided to go down to the dealer but they say i can only buy the V8 Kompressor badging, which is $57 for each (making it $114 total). Does anyone know where i can get this a bit less, or only saying the
V8? I know I may sound cheap, but honestly $114 for 2 chrome V8 letters seems a bit high in my opinion. Thanks in advance!

Ebay. You have to get the whole Kompressor set, but it is quite cheap! Just use the V8 part and sell the Kompressor part to some sad sap.

If you want the V8 badging without the Kompressor, I believe you can buy the V8 badge from the G500. I remember someone telling me that the V8 badge from the G500 is the same size as the V8 Kompressor badge on the E55.

Can anyone confirm this?

If you decide to go with the G500 V8 badge, please let us know the total cost and post pictures if possible.

The V8 fender badge from the G500 is actually slightly larger then the V8 part from the V8 Kompressor badge from the E55. The V8 badge from the G500 can generally be purchased at a dealer ship for $15 to $25. I personally wouldn't use it because the V8 is also larger then the C55 logo on the trunk hood the V8 Kompressor is the same size as it. Even thought it costs more I would use that so it matches your other badging size wise.

When you put them on your car use painters tape so you line it up straight.

I put on V8 badges on the front quarter panel of my C55. I bought it from another forum member, who bought it from e-bay.

Just type in "V8 Mercedes Badge" in ebay, and you'll see.

Thanks for the confirmation. I agree... make sure to get the correct size for the V8 badge.

On my SL600 I bought a chrome license frame with nothing on it and then put the V12 from the side of an SL600 centered on the bottom of the chrome frame. Simple, straight and nice. It was always fun to watch Porsches and the like come speeding up next to me and then spy the twin AMG exhaust pipes and realize there was something different about my car. They could usually spy the V12 on the license frame and then would pass slowly by. Only car I really ever raced was a Z06 and he must have been a novice as it wasn't even close.

You really should reduce your image size.

Well, you can look at pics of a C32 and its fender badge and just move the "V8" more towards the middle. Use painters tape to line it up straight. What I did was place them 3 inches up from the top of the body trim and parallel with the end of the chrome part of the body trim. Meaning it doesn't pass it. That location looks the very best IMO and I tried 3 different spots. I got very **** about it and wasted a lot of badges. I can post some pics later if you want.
