UH OH - Did you notice this?

My buddy told me last night that his Gas Mileage was severely affected negatively and his On-Board Computer's Average Mileage indicator went bezerk. While he was driving the Average mileage jumped to over 100mpg and dipped to under 10mfg and back up again over a 60 second interval while he was on the freeway and after he exited. He has now decided to sell his unit for less than what he paid for it.

Now I'm worried about what this does to other electrical components including the ECU. Maybe someone can offer some explanation before I would be willing to install mine which I have bought 3 weeks ago.

When he removed did these problems go away?...I have not heard of anything like this, but I've certainly noticed my mileage going down because I've constantly got my farking foot in it

Sounds like a coincidence to me. I agree with Bif, my gas mileage has dropped, but this only due to my driving style......or lack of.

The problems went away after he removed it but the spiking average mileage indicator did not happen to my car. He helped me install it in 5 minutes and after I test drove it I was thrilled with the results. The response definitely improved. I thought it might be too sensitive before but now after test driving it I think it's perfect. I don't feel an increase in overall power but it kicks in much earlier. The Driveability (i.e. in parking lots, heavy traffic) is not negatively affected either. I give it two thumbs up!

So, this is a step up from the normal ECU reset in terms of throttle response, right? Because, I can keep resetting my ECU every few weeks for 250 bucks, lol. From what I have read it seems like it's more response than you get out of a standard reset. What concerns me is passenger comfort or whenever I want to just drive normally. Can you drive normally with an SB?

I have read about more than one person finding it to be too much. I am just afraid I will be redlining every gear, which I don't do very often now. Some more fun behind the wheel sounds great, but I want to be able to drive below 3K rpm on occasion too. It seems this is possible with a light enough foot. If I get one, hopefully my foot is light enough.

Edit: I found this thread through a search, read it and replied. Noticed a high number of AMG vehicles but not that it was in the AMG forums, lol. Hope it's ok that I am not an AMG owner.

you can still have a relaxed attitude towards your drive when the mood takes you, after driving with the sb for a while you will just learn to adjust your input on the throttle pedal to suit what you require

as far as resetting the ecu adaptions, i'm finding i'm still having to do this on average about once a week as it does still seem to be learning

i also seem to be getting less miles from a gallon of fuel, not sure if this is down to me or the booster but my average has gone down by about 2-3 mpg yet i dont feel as though my driving style has changed any

thanks slkfans for the SB delivery, finally had time to relax and stick in the sprintbooster late tonight.

most common phrases heard post-sb:

jesus christ
holy ****

suffice to say, yes, it feels like the way I want or expect to drive now.

now, if only Seattle can stay dry for a week....

Not an AMG :(
yeah, you definitely say 'j-christ' and 'holy ****' when it's fresh on the car. On the other hand, my GF says 'you're a f-ing idiot' when she's in the car with me.
Seriously though - I'm finding adaptation way too fast with mine. It is to the point where I have to use it for 2-3 weeks, remove it for a week (or about 100 miles) and then reinstall to see the effects again. Bit of a pain in the ***, but it sure is nice when I reinstall!

is the sprint booster the same as throttle reset? or is it far more responsive/aggresive than the throttle reset?

can i actually use the BDA451 (manual version) for the automatic C32?

I have this question as well - if the only difference it more sensitivity, I might be in

This is NOT even close to the same ball-park in the same neighborhood, near the league where the throttle reset thought it was

This is like you took your car to a shop and they did some work to it. It's substantially better - the car feels like I expected it to when I first got it.

Does the Sprint Boosters get rid of the small delay between putting your foot down all the way at a standstill, and the car going ....... it just hestitaes for like a 1/4 of a sec and then WOT, but it is annoying

YES IT DOES and a lot more !!!

It will make your car MUCH MORE responsive than it is now.

It improved my 0-60 time by 0.1 and in a few instances 0.2

It also makes the car a LOT MORE FUN to drive.

Excellent product.

I suspect the SB makes the S/C kick in more often (hence the fun), even if one does not intend to push the car that much. I would venture that the S/C wear and tear is slightly accelerated as a result, but hey the fun probably makes up for that.

The lack of throttle linearity in the C32 makes the perfect launch difficult to attain, even with an LSD. The Sprintbooster does not mitigate this problem, IMHO.

Anybody heard from SLKFANS lately? I'm interested in a SB for my 07 ML63 AMG. I've emailed and PM'd him but have gotten no response? His last posting was in November?

SB available at EBAY

Hello,
I have been trying to find SLK for a long time as well, and he did answer me. However it took so long that I found another source for SB. this source is in ebay and its from Spain. You pay $20 more compared to SLK, but I have not been able to find him.

Here is the link if anyone is interested:
