Thumbs up Green Air Filters!

Awsome. Just installed a set and notice a huge difference! I recommend these to anyone looking to get a little extra kick out of their C32.

I sell filtration for a living and see a few things that probably help make the Green filter that much more noticeable than the stock OEM fitler. If you look closely at the pleats on the OEM filter the ends are glued together making that portion of the filter non-permeable adding turbulance in the air box. Air needs to make an abrupt 90 degree turn downward then back upward prior to seeing the filter media. The OEM pleats are longer but are offer less usable surface on the sides due to the pleat gluing.

Green uses a much shorter pleat allowing for less turbulance in the air box. The rubber gasket does not allow side entry of air -- it has to come into the air box and 90 degree up where is sees all the pleated area of the filter.

I like the woven material description much more than the K&N layered technology. With less layers you are decreasing the pressure drop across the fitler allowing for more airflow......

A big A+ for Green in your C32.......

You must have had dirty stock filters. There is no significant power gain using k&n or green filters on a stock c32.

There is enough of a difference to realize the throttle response is much quicker. Had 15-17thousand on the paper OEM filters and they still had life on them!

i dont know about that, i just put in a set in my c32 and i can notice the difference in power/throttle response and my stock filter was only driven on about 10,000K and that’s it soo they still had a lot of life in them. there is a difference in fuel eco. and a noticeable difference in the power/throttle response. well its something that i can notice because i'm very pick and i know my car's performance to the T soo i know there was a difference...

I put them in when my car had 10k miles and was otherwise bone stock. The stock filters were very clean. I didn't notice any change in performance, fuel economy, or throttle response.

The airflow is better w/ Green vs. OEM. It's GOT to make a difference.

The increased air flow makes very little difference, power-wise.

BTW, you may want to check this cautionary thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/161238-oh-before-i-forget-look-my-friggin-green-filters-grrrrr.html

Very interesting? One thing I noticed with my stock fitlers was how brittle the gasket material was when I removed it. So brittle that it actually snapped in half with a light tug? Proably a heat issue caused by perhaps an issue with the gasket material? I would say its a heat issue vs something else. Has anyone asked Green what the problem may be associcated with????

My car's quicker after I wash it.

Seriously, fresh OEM filters probably perform as well as clean Greens or K&Ns. Maybe the differential grows as they dirty up. And,of course, you can't clean the OEM filters.

Not an AMG :(
Do these green filters need oiling before installing for the first time?

I just went through an entire recharge kit on my K&N's today and still can't get them really clean again after only 10K miles - I think it's time for a switch.

Do a quick search, One member posted his experience cleaning them with oxy clean and soda water. Claimed it worked very well

Well, I called Green and asked them if they knew of any issues with the filters collapsing in the housing. The fellow that I spoke to got on mbworld.org as we spoke and looked at the pictures in link mentioned above. He said it was more than likely an old gasketing material and have since changed it. Time will tell. He did say if there was a problem to send them back for a replacement set.

Here's the link to clean the K&N's if you ran out of the recharge kit. I haven't used this method yet but have used the recharge kit and it sucks. From the readings I got it seems to really work. I will try this when I do get some aftermarket filters.

The recharger kits suffice. Fitlers (out of the box) are less efficient than with a light dust cake on them say after 50-100 hours of operation on them so your are cleaning the filter to a less efficient stage by getting it "cleaner than new". I know this, I sell filtration for a living.

Oxy sounds like a good idea but we have no real clue if what is in Oxy causes the the cotton material to shrink (opening up larger bypass areas in the media). I would stick to the recharger kit and get a majority of the dust out vs. ALL knowing your filter is more efficient with a light cake on it......

back on topic.

My C55 looks like it has a ram air effect with the scoops and as I recall on motorcycles the ram air effect does help when you are going fast. I would think the same for my car. Faster I go an less restrictive filter the better horse power. I'm not sure about the supercharged cars but for N/A it should help with a less restrictive filter. Standing still on a dyno doesn't help the ram air effect.

Some where on youtube they dyno a car with a wind blower attached to the intake and it gained horsepower, thought that was funny.
