New 02 C32 owner introducing myself

Hey all I recently picked up a 02 C32 as a self present replacing my 01 IS300
Turbo, the car drives like a dream. Its silver / black and has 88k. I'm a car
guy so the miles doesn't worry me that much. I'm allready in the process of
changing the engine / tranny / differential oils, air & fuel filter, tires, spark
plugs and off to the dyno to make sure its up to spec.

Any hints, tricks, and must do's are appretiated.

Thanks!

Rey

02 C32 AMG sold!
alterego: Answering your PM as we speak. Funny you should say that. I don't
see any C32 AMG's. The evening of the day of the purchase of my car I saw
a silver one and a white one! All I see are C230 Kompressors though all the
time!

c32used: Thank you for the list of things to look up! Search engine is not
gonna like me

moosejaw: Thank you mate, gonna look into that too. Any other things I
should look up? I was thinking of changing the fuel pump, thermostat,
waterpump, thermostat housing, coolant and stuff like that. I used to work
at a independent BMW shop and I saw every possible item break, so I want to
apply what I learned into this car so it won't break down on me. And if it does
I'm stuck riding my bike

Scoop55: Thank you mate. Will do, as soon as I can attachments!

Neihouma, welcome to the board! You picked up all the key information in a couple of snappy posts -- that is why I like this board. Just make sure to change the tranny fluid (every 40K) as you said you would do and it should be fine. If you are going to change the water pump, at your milage be sure to change the idler pully as well, that item wears and changes the pressure on the WP bearing. Enjoy your car!!

if i remember from doing some research a while back, i don't think you can replace the fuel pump without replacing the entire fuel tank...someone correct me if i am wrong, as i think that is retarded, but then again, i didn't engineer the car...welcome!

Thanks AMG-Jerry!

Tump43: Thanks for the heads up on that, actually I'm looking for a schematic
of the engine bay so I can change all belts, bearings, and pulleys. Any leads
on that? Or anyone knows how many pulleys, belts, idler pulleys off the top
of their heads? Also gonna change the gearbox / differential oil annually. I did
this for my 95 M3 turbo and the car never gave me any problems only rather
the fact I kept overboosting the car to race bikes and blowing headgaskets
left n right. Also I'm enjoying the car like there's no tomorrow

1FASTC32: Thanks for the heads up. Still searching for things to change on
the car as I get home from work.

Thanks for the repplies everyone, sorry to get back in so late, my restaurant
has been kicking my *** lately and haven't had the time to checking in lately!

i think the attachment feature is turned off entirely not just for newbies. you can use imageshack.us tho. However recently there have been pop-up ads from their sites, so make sure you do have pop-up blocker.

congrats on the car btw.

yes it does take 12 spark plug. appearantly somewhere along mid 90's MB engineer decided to believe 3 valve and 2 spark plugs is the best way to go. now it's back to the traditional 1 plug per cyclinder.

btw, woa-han-hou!!

What a trip. I just ordered (12) NGK plugs IK20 5304, but I'm having a hard
time locating the Magnecor wires, I know its the KV85, but there are so
many models, do you know of any FAQ sheets for our C32's?

PS Is that Mandarin? I only speak Cantonese sorry

Also this is the things I plan to do / allready did to the car before I put it
on the dyno:

(2) K&N drop in filters
15W50 Mobil One oil
Redline ATF fluid
Redline 75W90
Magnecor KV85 Competition wires
Denso Iridium IK20 5304

The car has 89k and drives like a dream. It gets AS quick as my old 01 IS300
Turbo, but w/out the pain chest of acceleration which I dont mind because its
so damn smooth its not even funny....

Any helps, tips, advice is really appretiated! I feel like back 10 years ago when
I first got my 96 Cobra SVT modding it

The C32 uses the same wires as all the Mercedes V6, 1998-2004, C320 ect...

Ultrarev has them cheap.

http://www.ultrarev.com/Magnecor_Spa...29-p35086.html

Also gets some PERMATEX dielectric grease to put on boots and connections, which will make them go on easier.

Reconsider the wires...

I would purchase the Evosport wires if I could do it again. In fact, I will be ordering them after winter (car is parked for winter).

I have an issue with my wires coming off while driving. Not only do you have to pull over and seat them again, you have to deal with a check engine light too. It happened two days ago while I was driving on the freeway with my son in the car....not to mention it was RAINING!

Do a search on here, I'm not the only one.

For the record, some people have not had any issues.

Glad you didn't have a freaky accident especially with son on board!
