Very difficult decision

By 2007, my C55 W203 will be 3 yrs old.
By 2007, my 330i E90 will be 1 yr old.

I have 3 options:-

1. To trade the c55 with a C63 W204, cons: not too sure if I want another C-class in a row, I love the C55 , it has been so stable.
2. To trade the 330i with a M3 E92/E90, cons: lose a lot $ on a 1 yr old car
3. To trade the C55 with a M3 E92/E90 , cons: two BMW duplicated

any advice?

my advice would be to get a c63 whenever they decide to unveil those. BMW's suck. =P

If you love your C55 and it has been reliable, then keep it for a longer period of time.

Keep your 330i for another year or 2. Wait one year after the M3 has been released before trading in the 330i for the M3 to prevent the inevitable 1st year problems with brand new models.

In other words, don't do anything in 2007. Do you have enough patience for that??

Yeah, I'd agree with PC Valkyrie - just keep your cars. Don't rush and get the new models just because they're out. Plus those new generation cars are usually the ones with problems. Wait until they come out, find the problems, more parts become available, reviews are out and then get it.

I mean you got the 330i 1 yr. ago, why do you want to trade it already? You should have just purchased the M3 then.

the 1st question you should ask yourself is "what tasks do i want my cars to perform?" "why am i in my cars?"?

ie...if you suddenly want to go offroading then you'll have to sell the cars and get an suv.

ie...if you want to keep up with the joneses then you'll have to get the latest model as soon as it comes out wouldn't you?? :-(

if you want the best bang for the performance buck - i'd sell the c55, buy a clean 2002 c32 and spend the 6k to get it to 400hp.

the c32 imo, is better looking than the c55.

IN my opinion the c55 looks alot nicer than the c32. If i were you, I would keep both cars right now. Once the new m3 comes out wait another few months till the problems get worked out and trade the 330. You can buy an extended warrenty for your C55. And that should cover any real age/warrenty issues. With this car combo you would have two very unique beutiful cars.

thx guys, all are right says.
i am keeping these cars and will revisit the upgrade in 2008.

Another difficult thinking is, if I only need one car starting June 2007, which one should I sell ?

not to start a flame war but I definitely think the c55 looks much better. I would have bought a c32 years ago but I could not stand that really lame instrument cluster blah. Spend 6k and get 400hp huh? Screw that spend 10k and have 500hp with a blower. Not much comparison there. Get headers, downpipe and ecu and you're 550 via kleemann numbers if I am not mistaken. Plus as I hear it the suspension is much better. (I have only driven a c32 once when I had my c43 and was unimpressed I honestly couldn't tell the difference)

I second SPR's take on the C32. When it came time to sell my C43 I test drove the C32 and was thoroughly unimpressed. I actually thought my C43 with minor mods was much better. Also, I couldn't stand the C32 instrument cluster or interior. The handling, braking and acceleration of the C55 was clearly much better than my modded C43 and, IMHO, the C32 I test drove.

Keep the C55 and drop some money into it for a 500+hp Kleeman/Brabus/ Renntech kit, etc., or wait two years for a CLK63 or E63. Let MB work the kinks out before you buy. The C55 is indeed a well sorted out vehicle, knock on wood, no problems yet.

Hey so what ever happened with the quafe group buy? Where is the cheapest place to get the quafe? I am going to remove the pumpkin myself as I have a lift and take it to the local shop. I read that all I need are new bearings but not new shims? X mas is coming early to the rear end!

I agree that the C32 instrument cluster is pretty boring. I personally think that the C32 looks better from the outside, but the C55 def has a better interior.

I'd like to see how to get a C55 to 500hp for 10grand, because I'd sure like that. A quick glance at the tuner sites shows that they want 15k++ just in parts for 460hp. My C32 got to 440hp for under 6000 in parts+labor. The 550hp C55 project you're talking about sounds like a 20grand+ project, but I could be mistaken.

I'm not sure what happened to it. I don't think it ever got off the ground. I remember reading that the group buy would never happen because there wasn't enough margin in the part, but I know that that is not true, because I got mine for several hundred less than what I see it for online. A car friend ordered it for me -- sorry I can not get any more at that price.

330i depreciation no good due to 335i
but if you want that M3, it'll be a beast, do option 2 from your list
that way you have both mb and bm
