C32 AMG
![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
can anyone here chime in for the feasibility of this project?
every c32 seem to rely on increasing power for quicker acceleration. i wonder if changing to a shorter differential ratio could be an (cheaper??) alternative for quicker accel?
on manual tranny the swap seemed to be straight forward, on auto is it going to affect the ECU/ESP

It is true that Kleeman, Quaife, and Brabus makes limited slip differentials for the C32 AMG, BUT none of them change the final drive ratio because they do not replace the pinion gear or ring gear. Quaife could make an additional ring gear kit available, but you would have to contact them personally and it would probably be a one-off custom job. It may be easier to find a 3.46/3.69 diff from a different car with the same chassis, but you would probably have to buy the whole pumpkin, and it would still be an open diff, unless you decide to add a LSD to it.

what's your current ratio? what's the cost of a new ring and pinion?
ps. taller actually means lower numerical ratio (re lower numerical gear multiplication, slower accel) ... deeper is a higher ratio ( greater gear multiplication, greater accel, if you have the traction)... unless everything is opposite on the other side of the Equator.

hhmmm. i brought this up in past see this thread
https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c55-amg-w203/149553-where-can-i-get-shorter-rear-diff.html
for drag racers it's pretty easy to drop gearing by tire diameter and run in dyno mode. may need lsd tho. ie- toyo makes a 245/35-16 in t1s.

All this could fall apart (literally) if the deeper gears can't handle the power increase from a c240 to your c32.
I have no clue on if the swap is possible/easy.
Good luck!

can a 3.27/3.46/3.69 from other c classes be retrofitted into a C32?
are they stonrg enough to handle the power/torque? hmm i may need to have them shot peened and then fit LSD
this is going to cost quite a lot more than i initially thought...

I thought that you cannot change differentials on all the new benzes b/c the gearing is pre-programmed into the transmission computer and if you do the ESP will force the car into limp mode. Is this not true?

...........you are completely correct!! Makes me wonder if any one on this thread has actually changed gear ratio in a mercedes. I have done this in my Kleemann CLK32 and E55K S7. You need to change the transmission control computer to one that is compatible with your car and compatible with the new gear ratio.

3.47 diff ratio from C240 reprogrammed TCU with C240 codes?
a 3.47 diff ratio theoritically could make the C32 go 0-62mph in low-mid 4 second, but i think it'd be hard to get traction
how does the 3.27 feel like in your car ted?

Something Slow
i know this thread is pretty old.. i didnt wanna start a new one... question
can you use a C32 Engine/Tranny with the Differential from a C320
C320 Ratio 3.27
C32 Ratio 3.07
would there be any issues? anyone did it?

03 g35 coupe...........02 c32 Sold
no because the tcu calculated the gear ratios using the gearing from the tranny and rear diff final drive ratio. It will still throw a code if you use a c32 tranny, tcu but a stock c320 diff. You still need a c32 diff.
