2002 C32 Is this a good deal ?
This is going to be my first MB, Anyway the following is the information given to me by the owner....
======================================
2002 Mercedes Benz C32 AMG Black/Black
Only 41,XXX miles, used as a third car. Extremely clean interior, all AMG leather seating! Registration paid till Feb 2007.
I have an extend warranty which can be transferred to the new owner. Valid till 75,000 miles or April 2008, which ever comes first. This warranty is issued by Autobahn Motors Mercedes Benz, which can be use at all Mercedes dealership. It covers all mechanical breakdown or failure from engine to transmission. There’s a $100.00 deductible per case.
Options
• Sunroof
• Dual mode heated seats
• Fold down rear seats
• Imbedded 6 disc changer in glove box
• Bose surround sound system
• Xenon headlights
• Fog lamps
• Headlights washers
• Plus all the usual refinements of Mercedes Benz
The Brabus Monoblock VI rims makes the car look 10 times more distinguished. All made in Germany. The caps are original Mercedes Benz to give it a subtle distinction.
Front pair 18” Brabus Monoblock VI, 18x8.5, Goodyear Eagle F1 tires 225/40/ZR18
Rear pair 18” Brabus Monoblock VI, 18x9.5, Goodyear Eagle F1 tires 255/35/ZR18
In the trunk, 18” Brabus Monoblock VI, 18x8.5 with Bridgestone Potenza S-03 225/40/ZR18
All running tires are relatively new, around 6000-7000 miles on them.
==============================================
He wants 27K without and 29,500 with the warranty valid till 04/08 or 70k....
I have the list posted elsewhere on things to check before buying it such as 1500 rpm and the supercharger cooler motor as well as the radiator but Is this too much money?
What is it fails one of those aspects of the check? Should I offer less or just stay away???
Are the issues that people keep finding covered with the benz warranty or is htat out of pocket expense?
Thank you so much!!

where should I look for deals like that?
I am going to be moving out to SF Bay area and would like to buy something within 100-300 miles from there........
Ebay Is too risky...
I guess I should goto a dealership for certified pre-owned?
I would love to get a 2003 or 2004 for cheap with REALLy low miles like 26k
Where did you get yours?

Audi C7.5 S6
I bought mine from a local ad, but it was not cheap. At the time (feb 2004) not much selection in SF bay area.
C32s seem to be more inexpensive in LA, CA, than the SF bay area.
Also, much cheaper in Texas, but they may have Katrina cars.
Check out Autotrader.com
One could always try:

Do you think the extra money is worth it for the rims and the extended warranty?
Did yours come with one?
I am starting to have 2nd thoughts on this deal.......

It's a great sounding car, but I would offer him no more than $22.5K and walk away if he wants more. If he loves his wheels, buy your own set and let him keep them. He can have wheels and a warranty!

ok to be fair here:
i don't have a sunroof on mine, i don't have nav, and no custom wheels, or warranty. but i think you can get a better deal. if he will do 24k w/the warranty i'd take it. if not- no go.
yeah, don't go for the wheels, take the stockers and he can always cash in on the remainder of the warranty guys

I think the KBB is $26,800, Im sure he will refuse an offer less then $25k
If it passes all of the checks , (supercharger leak, 1500rpm, radiator etc)
would it be reasonable or are there enough of these (black on black which I love) out there for me 2 find another ?
---
What kind of maintenance should I expect to put into this car? Anything that fails after 45k , like $2000+ in parts/ labor @ 60k miles or something?
If I refuse his warranty, should I buy one elsewhere or just keep it as-is?

That said, it's a rare and enjoyable car, so don't let $1,000 screw you up. I'm pretty sure I overpaid (didn't realize the value difference with NAV).

No this is not a good deal.
If you buy the car take the warranty!! You may not need it, but you will regret it if something happens. I paid 27k for my c32 over a year ago.. Fully loaded with warranty to 100k. I would try to get him down to 24k and if not then walk unless money isn't an issue and you like the car.
I overpaid for mine last year at 27k because of the high miles.. but it had the Starmark warrant and the car looked brand new..
You can buy a late 03 for that price with Bi-xenon headlights.. which is bonus over the frosty's on the 02..
Good luck..

Where should I look for these 2003 or 2004 c32's in California?
I would like to spend less then 25 but I would be fine with spending 30 if I was sure it was in perfect condition with warranty

C32 AMG - in Pewter
C32 is a relatively rare car, only 1000+ per year imported into the US. So, finding one in perfect condition and perfect price is even more rare. Like you, I paid a bit more to get a car that everyone who has seen it inside and out has really hard time believing it is a used car. I would look in the Auto Trader, or other sites, or MB dealers (a bit more expensive there, sometimes, but if you want to buy extended warranty it is easier).
Look at this deal:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c55-amg-w203/174934-dilemma-could-use-some-input-trade-another-c32.html
Mark may pass it to you if he decides to stick with his current car...

If anyone is looking for a good deal.. this C32 looks very promising.. Basically the same color and options on my car except for the rear sunshade, which I would rather not have anyway.. not a bad price either.

i think depending where you live prices are either lower or higher................extended warranty is a must! if the extended warrranty is not factory then expect to pay for diagnostics, bearings and cooling stuff besides the $100 deductible. the 02 c32 has been good to me but it did require warranty and non-warranty work within my 4 months of ownership. if you can get the stock rims go for them instead of the brabus ones he offers. i paid in the chigo area 33k with extended warranty. its a pitty that bmw has a higher resale value then we do. but if we all sell our cars for dirt cheap then the market will not change. i feel sorry for those who's done the pulleys, lsd and ecu reflash with that being the case. you would be lucky to get mine for 29-30k with all i have done and thats with 49k miles.
