Anyone know if those larger AMG calipers will clear the factory 17" AMG rims? I still use those during the winter

At least you didn't rush into buying, because that would've been a expensive mistake.
Bolting on shouldn't be too big of a problem, especially since worst case scenario, they may need to make a custom bracket for the caliper if it doesn't directly bolt on.
Good luck with the install and hope all goes well.

Hey guys i'm thing about doing the same upgrade with in the next 2 months or soo, as soon as i burn out the current brakes on my car and i can put the rest of the money together to make this all happen,
I looked into the 8piston front and 6piston rear (8/6 brake) set up but it a lot harder to make that work with the C32/C55's because there is a slight chance that you might need to change that master cylinder to make that brake setup work, so like some of u here i have resulted back to the (6/4 piston set up)
and i have done a lot of research and came to know that a CLK55 2005+ has the 6/4 set up that will fit a C32/55 cars, however the CLK63's 6/4 setup is a lot better then the CLK55 because the calipers are lighter and are all the same weight where the CLK55 calipers are different weight from the left to the right, that is one of the reasons that you will find the CLK63 brakes to be a little more $$$$ but i think its worth the extra money, i started this questioner on the CLK55/63 form on MBworld the link is attached.
but i still find the prices to be a little too $$$ soo most likely i'm going to get the calipers form the dealer, and get the rotors from brembo. so i can cut back on the cost a little bit.
if some one has already done this or is planning to do this before me plz let me know so i know what i'm getting my self into. thx

the largest brake that will clear a 17" wheel is the stock C32/C55 brakes. anything bigger u will need a min 18" wheel

i have been quoted a price to make the whole set up work from my dealer and the full brake down is as follows :

1 x front caliper left $1046.00
1 x front caliper right $1046.00
1 x front rotor left $1185.00
1 x front rotor right same
1 x front pad set $275.30
1 x rear caliper left $826.00
1 x rear caliper right $826.00
1 x rear rotor left $309.90
1 x rear rotor right same
1 x rear pad set $105.15

there is a discount if i buy everything together (i think its between 10-15% off the total)

but i think this is the cost of the CLK55 2005+ brakes not the CLK63 ones.

due to the fact that the C32 brakes SUCK bigtime on my C270CDI I have already bought the complete SLK55 brake setup (2piece front rotors, 6piston front callipers, 4piston rear callipers, vented rear rotors and all pads)...due to my winterwheels being 17inch I have not installed the brakes yet as 17s won't clear these brakes...

the brakepad wear indicators still work/fit with this setup (off course that is)

if anybody ever gets a quote below 500USD for new front callipers (first post), one should JUMP onto that without wai(s)ting a single second...same goes for people who "can buy" the entire setup for a minor 1200USD (no way that that ever happens again).

greetingz,

the 6-piston from the newer CLK55 and the SLK55 is around $700+ per. The $400+ price is for the C32/55 setup.

is the whole thing worth doing? yes, if you are planning to upgrade the brakes. why? because it's heck of a lot cheaper than Brembo GTs or Stoptech or other brands.

the brake sensor will work it's not a problem.

the main downside for the C32/55 front brake is the very heavy rotors it use.

I sold the rear 4-pot set to Russell Stevens which he installed with the stock brake sensor. he has the same year as urs drex The only thing he mentioned was that the holes for the bolts on the caliper is a little different that he made it a little bigger I believe.

front should use the stock sensor as well. even my 355mm brembo is using the stock sensor.

greetingz,
The whole front and back should run you about 4200 USD without import tax.
That is for sure.

Personally I consider the main downside to be the fact that I cannot slow my car down from 200+kmh speeds after I had to do that 3 times in a row already...

Okay, so there's been so many different part numbers thrown out, but I'm trying to figure out which part numbers are the same as the SLK 55 (030 performance) brakes? From what I understand they are a 6F / 4R piston setup and the front brakes are 2 piece floating rotors (cross-drilled/slotted). Is that correct? If so, anybody have the exact part numbers for front and rear?

ok i looked into the same matter:
and this is what i cam up with:
the SLK55 AMG (030 performance package) has the same brakes as the CLK63 they are exactly the same

the part # for the calipers are
003-420-67-83 front left 6 piston caliper ----retail price $1051.00 Cad
003-420-68-83 front right 6 piston caliper ---- $1051.00 cad
003-420-29-83 rear 4 piston caliper ----- $830.00 cad
003-420-30-83 rear 4 piston caliper ---- $830.00 cad

part #'s and amounts were quoted to me by my dealer

Thanks, Harry. Do you know the #'s for the rotors too?

Also, I saw in another thread that there is also a protective cover. Does anybody know if that part is required?

i dont know the part #'s for the rotors, i thought it might be cheaper to get the rotors from brembo since they would be the same. so that is why i did not get the part #'s from benz for the rotors. but i can look into it for u and let u know.

That would be great. I really appreciate it. Wait, the 2 piece floating rotors are the same as the Brembos? I thought the brembos are only cross-drilled, aren't they?

From what I understand, the CLK 63/SLK55 (030 package) has Cross-drilled and slotted rotors in front.

SLK55 [030]/CLK63 brakes are the same...and SLK55/latemodel CLK55 brakes are the same as well

The SLK brakes are not made by Brembo so the rotos are not available from Brembo either...DC used a different manufacturer for the SLK brakes (as far as I have been told).

SLK55 & SLK55 [030] rear brakes:
003 420 30 83 - calliper R: 327.92
003 420 29 83 - calliper L: 327.92
004 420 49 20 - brakepads: 99.14
171 423 02 12 - rotor: 116.88 each

SLK55 front brakes:
003 420 48 83 - calliper R: 415.36
003 420 47 83 - calliper L: 415.36
004 420 50 20 - brakepads: 98.38
171 421 01 12 - rotor: 439.55 each

SLK55 [030] front brakes:
003 420 68 83 - calliper R: 415.36
003 420 67 83 - calliper L: 415.36
004 420 50 20 - brakepads: 98.38
209 421 01 12 - rotor: 513.96 each

the metal dustcover plate behind the brakes probably has to be changed as well...ALL PRICING IN EURO
