You are not going to beleive what happend over the weekend
Hey guys,
This really suck, as some of u know i just put on my carbon fiber lip on last week and this weekend when i was driving down the highway at about 100 Mp/h around 160+ Km/h the lip flew off my car and. I did not even see it coming off all i herd was me running some over. when i stop and look up front i realized it was my lip, i had to go back on the highway to get my lip and it was not in good shape. i attached some pic, i thought i had that thing bolted on well i had thee bolts on each end and a **** load of 3M tape all over the front of the lip to the back, the whole spot that did not have any bolts had 3M tape but i guess it was not good enough. so now i have to get another on and this time around i'm drilling holes in the center of the lip through the lip to the bumper and putting on a total of 10 bolts to hold this thing down.
In th past when i had gone that fast nothing happened but this time i was cruising 160 Km/h for about 10 min or so and then the lip flew off. the pic are attached.

If the directions you recieved said to use 3 bolts on either end plus 3m tape OR all 10 bolts, I think I would take it up with the company and see if they will replace it or at least cut you some slack on another one. Unless you didn't follow directions I would definitely get ahold of the company.
Sorry to hear about your loss either way. That is a bad deal...especially since you just put it on!

ouch, that's one of the reason I put off the idea of adding the front diffuser on my Carlsson front.
But it may be just bad luck since most of the replica add-on lip for the M3 are also attached the same way and made by the same manufacturer in Taiwan. The only time you heard something about them is when they actually hit something to cause them to break.

10 bolts????? my lip only came with 6 bolts, and thats all they recommended to put on the 3M was my idea, all they gave me was the 3 bolts on each side of the lip to be bolted on. i never knew that there was an option of bolting 10 bolts on the lip. well anyways i will try to talk to the company and see what they say. i going to order a new one tomorrow, when it arrives its back to the drawing board. this time the lip is going to be on soo well that it will be next to impossible to get it off without taking the bumper off. thx guys for all the input and the advice on the 10 bolts.
for anyone who has the lip on there car and or thinking of getting one on make sure u really bolt the dame think on really well. and check up on the lip to make sure its not loosening up on u.
PM me if u are looking for the lip i can shoot u in the right direction to be able to get the lip

i agree its a strong lip, but it just goes to shows you what wind pressure can do to a lip on the car. i believe the wind pressure had everything to do with the lip flying off the car the bolts were on tight and the 3m tape was on well u could not shake the lip at all even if u tried to shake it with ur hands.
but i cant argue on how good it looked on my car soo thats why i'm ordering a new one tomorrow. and cant wait to put it on my car again. pic of what it looked like is attached. to a different thread

wtf dude?
i just finished posting on your latest pics and now i see this!
thats crazy!
hmmmm, did you get this from Euroteck or was this a replica? i am just trying to picture how it came off like that is if the bolts are still in tact. did it fall through the pre drilled holes on the CF lip?
i know Eurotecks has at least 10 bolts wheni had it on the c230 and i didnt use any tape at all. max speed i went on that was 200+ KM/hr and it's still on there solid!

bte, the center bolts are a must!
Neal told me those are really the ones that secure it the most. the ones on the sides only hold it in place.

wow, that sucks!
I'm not sure how many bolts are on mine, but I'm glad I paid Meridian $50 to install it. They didn't like the bolts at the end and ended up making custom bolts or doing something custom to secure the ends (this was an additional precaution b/c the bolts at the end hang down somewhat, I'm sure that all the bolts and stuff that mine came with would have been sufficient, but my installer wanted to be safe). Mine has been perfect...

its bolted on from inside the bumper and not screwed in from the bottom.

My lip from Euroteck came with 10 bolts, I used them all.. no 3m tape.. I have been up to 140 with no problems..
Sorry to hear about your problem. I am sure its because you didnt have the middle bolts installed..

they're all the same. some just give out more bolts.
for these type of lips if the bolts are not the self taping ones instead of the bolts and nuts there is no need for 10 bolts. Authentic Carlsson front add-on which is thing is based on only has bolts on the side and 2 bolts down the center for attachment total of 6. For the middle ones you need to drill the bumper, put the bolts through, and lock the nuts from the inside of the bumper.
