Digital climate control and paddle shifters

OK OK, so we all hate the knobs. I am interested in finding a definitive solution how to stick in the clk55 05 digital control module and get it to work. Also I want to see what charcoal filter it has and get that to work whether electronic or just a charcoal filter.

This has to work because the 07 c55 has it. If I have to add a couple of wires I really could care less. I have already had the whole center console out for the ipod install so no big deal.

Here is the deal. I am told that there are 3 versions of the climate control module and vary depending on VIN.

The approach: either get a vin from an 05clk55 that has that module and see if it works or get the vin from an 07 c55 and see if that module works.

Thoughts? I know that I for one am not the only person who wants to do this right???

Anyone that has ANY info let me know. The main problem is that contacted SD MB is that they can order the parts, however if they don't work out due to compatability, I cannot return them. HELP!!!!

Additionally if you guys noted in the cls forum there are paddles you can buy and retroft for the buttons. I am going to pick up a pair and try and see if the electronics like them. I am told they might or might not.

In sum I want to do both and then of course get the m1 flash to go with the paddles. For those of you who have the flash is it as fast or faster than S mode when you reset it and mash on it to shift hard? Mine shifts insanely quick. Last time I reset it for instance, I went out and mashed on it to reprogram it and it lit the tires through 1,2, and into 3! It was a cold it but damn! When driving it shifts extremely hard.

Thoughts????

I successfully installed a set of paddle shifters (171 267 00 46). You have to modify the steering wheel as is described in the E55 / E63 forum. I didn't take any pics because its completely a copy of what was done on the E55. Most importantly, is that the electrical connections are spot on, no mods needed there. I'm still modding - and haven't actually checked the functionality, but I see no reason why they are not going to actually function.

The switch function is much better than the button - a nice detent feel. The look and feel are exceptional and there is no interference problem with the turn signal stalk.

If you're adventurous - DO IT. If you're not - buy the paddles and have a good trim shop do the work. Removing the steering wheel is a breeze.

I had Steve try to install the digital climate control on my car. I think he tried like 3 or 4 different versions and he couldn't get any of them to fully work with my car they all worked a little just not entirely.

The paddles I haven't tried, but I probably will.

? 2003 and up e55's have digtal climate control. the older ones I am pretty sure had the same climate control as my c43 did which was also digital as well. That doesn't quite make sense unless I am mistaken.
