Does the evosport/powerchip stage 2 increase boost?

Hi,

In december 06 I got my ECU shipped to CA to get the Evosport/Powerchip stage 2 installed. When I got it back the speed limiter was gone. I got a boost gauge installed and before the repro the boost peak was 14.5 and now it is still the same. I thought it was supposed to increase the boost by 3 psi. Right?? Could it be because I don´t have the headers yet??

I used to talk to Michael Wilson from Evosport, but now they told me that he no longer is there.

The ODPS, pulley kit is where the additional boost comes from. Checkout the stage2 kit on the evosport website, which has both stage1 & 2 list components. Do you have all the stage 1 & stage2 components?

On a belt driven supercharger, extra boost only comes from overdriving the blower, by changing pulleys.

Yes, I got the ASP pulleys, but I was told that the repro would give me a bit more boost. 3 psi. Then probably that wasn´t true. Because when I installed the pulleys is when I installed the boost gauge. So probably without the pulleys it would have been around 11.5-12 psi I guess.

Evo Stage 2 boost info

Yes Evo Stage 2 increases boost by 3 psi (from 14.5 to about 18).
And yes, you must have the over drive pullies not just ECU...

Mike does not work at evosport any more, but you can talk to Dale. Same number, but extension 11 instead of 12.

give us some specs on your car and your complete setup, we can probably help to figure out why you are down some on boost...

Engine mods are:
- Modified intake plenums (pics on another thread)
- Ported supercharger
- ASP Pulleys
- Evosport plug wires
- Evosport phenolic spacer kit
- Evosport/Powerchip stage 2 ECU
- NGK iridium spark plugs
- SL55 Y splitter
- K&N filters
- Removed resonator and seconday cats
- Secondary heat exchanger
- Battery was moved to the trunk to make space for a supercharger water reservoir
- Bigger water pump

Once I tried a different boost gauge but it didn´t make a difference.

any porting done after the supercharger will reduce boost slightly. boost is essentially back pressure in the intake system. these are positive displacement superchargers and only flow a given amount of air at a certain RPM. if you modify the intake to be less restrictive and push the same amount of air through it, the resulting pressure will be less. although, i could be wrong.

ok, that explains it...you made your engine more efficient by porting it and freeing up the exhaust, therefore you are don't have the same level of pressure within the system...

the only way to increase the boost any more right now would be to find someone to make a bigger crank pulley...

That makes sense,

But getting someone to make a custom bigger crack pulley will be hard. Know anyone?

Anyway my car is running great, check my 300C SRT-8 race in the kill stories forum. Later I will post the results against a 07 Z4 M Coupe.

and... can anyone tell me if it would be better to return to the stock plenums with 18 psi, or the modified plenums with 14.5-15 psi??? Ir help me find someone that can make a a custom pulley, I think I could get advantage of this.

Sweet engine work

Boost is just an indirect measurement of air flow. It's intake airflow that give you power! Your setup aldready has increased airflow and you SHOULD aldready making more power than stock setup. If you try to increase boost further by overdriving the sc, the super charger clutch may slip.

I would leave as it is, take more pics of your setup and post it on here PLEASE

With the intake porting, you're making the same power or slightly more at less boost. You can't complain about that. Changing the exhaust won't effect boost pressure...we don't have turbos.

i wouldn't. that's worth at least 5whp. there's also a NOPI sticker that's worth 5 as well, but when used together, you can get up to 20whp, but even then it would only be if you had a Honda.

sarcasm meets smartass
