New Here

Hello everyone. I am new here. I am interested in buying an 2005 or 2006 C55 AMG. I just wanted to know if there were any differences between the two years and if so can someone please enlighten me? I live in PA and commute to Jersey for work and school. How does the C55 do in the snow? Also i currently drive a 2003 Acura CL Type-S. I have a Pioneer Avic-Z1, which has a touch screen which i love. I wanted to know if anyone has ever put a Avic-z1 in C55 Amg. I saw a 2003 W203 that wasn't an AMG with one but i know the consoles are different thats why i am asking. If so can someone please post a picture or a link. Thanks for your time.

1) As far as i know, there is no difference.
2) You can put Z1 in C55. That's not a problem.
3) paging Chicago C55 owners

Putting the Z1 in is not as simple as it sounds. You'll need a custom faceplate made, and you'll also have to lose a lot of the stock audio system components like the factory amps and subwoofer. You'll also need an additional unit to retain the steering wheel controls. It is an expensive job. I ended up replacing my speakers while I was at it, and the entire job ended up costing around 5k.

Well, you've got the head unit, ipod interface, tv tuner, xm tuner, bluetooth adapter, CAN bus adapter, rear camera, new components, new rear speakers, new 4 channel amp, new sub amp, all new wiring, custom sub enclosure and probably a few other things. It adds up, but it is a complete solution and works great. I would do it again.

Well as far as making the custom faceplate and changing the audio components i already did that in my Acura. I have the Z1 now and i just wanted to see how a C55 would look with a custom face plate. I currently have the Z1 with the ipod interface, the periphial steering wheel control, diamond audio hex 600a components, and kicker 1000.1 and a 650.4..with a 12L7. I spent about $4500 on the whole set up so yeah i see where your $5000 came. I think i paid $250 for a custom faceplate alone. I just wanted to see how it looked in a 05-06 C55. I think i am in love with this car and might have to get rid of my Acura 3.2 CL Type-S. I am just scared of how the car would perform in the snow, and also i didnt like that face that the Benz navi isnt touch screen. I just wanted some feedback from current owners and pics would be nice so i can get an idea if it would actually tie into the dash nicely. Thanks so far for the info.

In case you have not seen it, there is a sticky under the general W203 forum for the DYI on the Z1:

I haven't seen any yet. I saw a pic of a 2005+ with a different double din in it, but I'm not sure where on the forum.

None of this stuff is specific to C55.

I still haven't seen an off the shelf double din adapter for the 2005+ W203s. You can make a custom one out of fiberglass, or have one made for you. If that is a big issue, you're in for a rough ride on the conversion.

LOL not really a big issue i just want to see how it looks tied into the dash. I dont want it to look awkward.
