Well my guy up in LA is now a shop foreman and no longer works on the cars. Does anyone have a mater mechanic that they use at an MB dealership in SD? What is the best SD dealership? Best Service Rep? I have a ton of warranty work that I need to get done. Thanks Sean

The best place for service in San Diego IMO is MB of Escondido. MB of San Diego sucks big time. I use the SA named Jeff. He is really cool. Warranty work that was turned down at MB of SD was taken care of by MB Escondido.

I actually just picked my car up from them today. My heated seat went out (again) and my car is out of warranty. Jeff got MBUSA to cover my repairs for free ($1200 cost) even though I am out of warranty.

The loaners are always MB's not some junky toyota, and its only $10 bucks no matter how long they have your car.

Good luck.. if you work with Jeff.. Tell him Mark with the C32 sent you over.

Good luck!

Nice is there a master mechanic that works there? I am really not interested in taking my car to the dealer only to have other problems creep up!

Either Escondido or SD.

I highly recommend Ryan Frausel at MB of SD. A few of the local guys can vouch for him as well.

You just need to get in touch with the right advisor.

Ryan will take care of you. Just let him know you're a MBworld member.

Don't get me wrong Esco isn't bad either but I don't know any of the reps/techs there personally.

My experience with MB of SD was not that great. The SA's were nice, but when it came down to fixing the things that i asked to be fixed, they were not great. Twice, i've had to take my car back in a week or so after i got it back from the dealer, only to fix the same problem. I've never been to MB of Escondido, so i have no basis for comparison. However i've heard good things, and i will be taking my car there next time.

Hi Ling.. I will keep Ryan's name in mind for worst case scenarios..

I have worked with 3 different SA's there an none of them really seemed to understand my car, my Starmark warranty of all things, etc..

MB of SD tried to charge me $1200 to replace the rails under my seat because my seat control kept burning out. They claimed it wasn't covered under my warranty. This was after three trips because the seat went out. One time it broke as soon as I got in the car after they allegedly fixed it.

MB of Escondido said one of the wires was shorting out and they replaced the wiring harness under the seat under warranty and zero problems in over a year since.

They also tried to claim my brabus suspension caused my front bushings to fail.. which was ridiculous. I even spoke to the service manager and quoted the TSB and he wouldn't budge. Escondido fixed the problem under warranty no questions asked.

I do like the sales service and parts department though. I prefer to go there for everything else, but service I will pass.

I've heard very good things about MB of Escondido from multiple members of this board, but have not tried it personally...

Thanks!
Well since I have a warranty 3p indy shops are out. Further and honestly if I am going to a indy shop I will do the work myself.

Anyone have contact info for a service rep and MASTER mechanic at MB escondido? I only want an AMG trained master mechanic. Thanks Sean

Took my car into MB of Escondido today for a couple of issues. I worked with an SA named Bruce, he was a nice guy. Since i'm only 1 month out of warranty, but under 50k miles, he said he'd try to get the repairs done for free, or meet me half way 50/50, although he said he'd have to check with his boss so there was no guarantee. I thought that was pretty decent of him. I will post again after i get the car back, for a full review. BTW As far as aesthetics/appearance MB of Escondido is much sicker than MB of SD.

MBSD is terrible..... the CD changer kept seizing up and they wouldn't replace it... they "reset" it...... which is complete bull****.... cause it failed again.... so they reset it again... still have the same problem, i will try esco though..... too bad they don't have benzos for renatls though.

I'll give my vote to Escondido. I've taken my car since new and they've provided great service everytime. So far I've had the regular service plus:

1) Comand Unit replaced due to faulty insert/eject for CD.
2) Heated seats replaced for short in portion of seat.
3) Partial LED out in 3rd brake light on trunk.
4) Tire installs for $20/wheel.

Thanks. I ended up going back to my guy in LA as you cannot put a price on trust especially with the inconsistency of ALL SD dealers
