Mystery AMG to debut in NYC 4/4/07! C63???
On April 4th, Mercedes AMG is set to reveal an all-new AMG model at the New York Auto Show. They don't reveal much, but look pretty sweet. In the past Mercedes has revealed AMG models at NY such as the CL 65 (W215) and SL 65 in 2004 and E 63 in 2006. But which one could it be? Perhaps new generation W216 CL 65, CLS 65 or even an E 65?
We currently know the new W204 C-Class which debuted in Geneva a few weeks ago is expected to make its market debut towards the end of this coming summer in the US. Therefore, New York would be the most likely event to make its North American public debut since there are no more major auto shows until LA in November. With that in mind, it is highly probably the mystery AMG will be the new 2009 C 63 AMG model. Other supporting evidence includes this image above taken from the AMG Private Lounge site which shows the side profile although covered with a blanket. The general contours appears to resemble the new the C-Class.

Probably the S63 which is dubbed a 2008 Model S-Class. I believe Mercedes-Benz is almost taking pre-orders for this car and delivery will come just before the C-Class, so I assume that's what it is.

From the shape of it, doesn't look like there is a rear door handle, only one up front. And the trunk looks like some kind of rear spoiler mounted on there as well. Could it be a coupe in one of the model lines?

Definitely a coupe, and I think it's a CLK. Look at how the proportions match up, positioning of side-view mirror, door handles, and window outlines:

if it is a black line amg for the states I am selling my car and buying that!
I think it looks like a CLK to me. Maybe they finally are bringing the CLK hardtop back to the states?
The wheels do look like the multispoke CLK Black edition wheels however but I dont see massive fender flares.

CLS65 or CLK63 Black Edition
From the pictures above, it seems like the CLS is the only one that fits the extra extension of the cover in the rear bumper, so maybe some kind of version of the CLS. Maybe CLS65 or CLS63 black edition or some edition.
Then again, CLK63 Black Edition also fits pretty good because of the one door handle, wide front and back fenders, large rear spoiler.
In the end it won't matter much because any AMG is always good news...

Since no one knows about it, does this mean it won't be a normal Mercedes that'll be available for purchase through the existing dealer network with warranty and what not?
Or is it just a really well kept secret?
