What I find
Been following this thread for sometime now.

Jerry,

What if anything would you have done differently from the start of this project?

Great job and fantastic read. Thanks for the info.

Thanks!

I have to say that I wouldn't have bothered porting the heads. AMG did a fantastic job on them and there isn't much room for improvement.

However, the 3 angle valve job is something that I would have done again. I think that porting the exhaust side of the heads would also help.

My issue is that there is no feasible way for me to up the boost anymore. My S/C is almost spinning at redline.... so to be safe, I need to leave things alone.

I have a dyno appt on Friday where I should be able to get some Dynapak numbers to compare with my first graph. I expect the numbers to be the same as before the port job.

I consider this project over.....and a failure.

The only positive thing is the Trq curve and improved MPG. We will be able to compare the two graphs this weekend.

I hope you don't plan on removing the clutch, also with a smaller SC pulley there is a good chance the belt will slip. Let us know how it turns out.

I've been reading a post on the E55 forum where there're in talks about installing turbochargers. Some want to keep the factory supercharger while others want to nix the blower all together.

I have been thinking about this since I first bought my car. When I spoke to a rep at STS he sounded totally excited about my inquiry. He was thinking a modest horspower level per pound of boost would be in the neighborhood of 20HP per lbs of boost. The C32 without boost was dynoed at 135WHP. I see the math looking something like this, 135 + 17% (drive train loss) = 158 Flywheel HP(Base). The boost on the M112 engine is 14.5 so 20 x 14.5 = 290HP + 158(Base) = 448 horsepower, that is a 100HP increase @ the same boost! A pullied blower is good for approx 4-5 more pounds of boost so 18.5 x 20 = 370 + 158(Base) = 530 Flywheel HP!

So far I believe the most challenging part of the build would be the electronics side. And what I mean by that is where the ECU controls the supercharger clutch. I figure there has got to be a way to have that talk to an electronic boost controller to open and close the wastegate in a similar fashion to the supercharger clutch.

Don't forget that the base number will go up once the S/C is removed and there are no air restrictions. With the S/C not spinning, air has a hard time getting through.

I doubt I will spend any more money on mods for this car. My goal now is to find out why the car is pulling timing. It starts at 4800 RPM and continues to red line. I think that I'm losing about 50HP and I have no clue why!

I recently replaced my O2 sensors, but I've tripped the P0130 code twice now.

Jerry in my opinion just find out what could be restricting you...ask questions to other performance people also until you find one that has an answer to your issue. Adding more Mods can add to your current issue thus making it more frustating. Wait and see what kind of numbers 1fastc32 makes with his setup and from there you will have a base idea what you are loosing and maybe find out better where to locate your issue.....I know its frusterating but as long as the car is running relax and keep asking around til you find your restrictions. I say look at the point where your car made the most numbers and list everything you did since and maybe you will find an answer there.

if anyone is interested in some cooling upgrades, shoot me a PM...
A google search of Leading Edge Motorsports comes back with a few companies... from my best guess, the most likely one to be correct is http://www.leadingedgemotorsport.com...port/index.cfm but I'm obviously not 100% on this - can't find any mention of them fab'ing pullies of any type.

The question's come up a few times regarding pricing and availability - Erick or Jerry, any info or updates on this?

TIA!

Supercharged cars are so much more difficult to change boost, gotta change pullies, unlike turbos.

I was hoping the new pulley setup would be cheaper.

+1

From what I've read on other posts, driveline losses for this car are approx. 15-17%.

322 / .85 = 378
322 / .83 = 388

Renntech Stage I alone is claimed to make a hair under 400 hp... so either that's an inflated figure, or they experienced those gains by starting with a particularly strong stock C32, who knows.

Anyway, I think 360 rwhp (ballpark 425 - 435 crank hp) is optimistic for just the LET pulley swap, although I'd be happy to be wrong almost 40 rwhp from a slightly larger (i.e. higher boosting) pulley seems unlikely to me though.

Maybe with the LET pulley AND upgraded headers, we'll see 350+ rwhp out of 1Fast's car!!

the number is down a little from last time i was at the dyno with the same mods, last time i put down 131whp, so 9whp down from last time, but it was blazing hot yesterday! gotta love houston!

anyways, i got the new pulley on last night, but i haven't had a chance to drive the car yet...i will let you know how it drives and especially what kind of power it puts down on friday...

let this be a word of wise to you boys and girls, before putting
box of parts in your C32, go and DYNO your car while it's stock,
get a baseline reading. I regret not doing this.

I'm a nerve away of putting my car back to stock to dyno it or
just strip it and sell it.

Actually on a conservative (underrating it) calculation 322rwhp
comes up to 389BHP
