I have had two shops tell me that it is stainless steel, just not shiny like aftermarket piping. Sure doesn't look like it to me.

ya i had one shop person tell me it is stainless steal, and the other tell me that its not. so i was lost.
because i wanted to do a res. delete, but the one shop that thought that should get a stainless steal pipe to fit in the gap of the res. so i was calling around to find out where i can get a stainless steal pipe from. but no one had it. then this one shop tell me that its not stainless steal. so now i'm back to square 1

...
it is full stainless steel...make sure you put a stainless steel pipe in there to replace the resonator...

fyi: there are different grades of stainless steel, so they are not all equal...though for exhaust piping, it is usually not a big deal unless you are dealing with headers...

stainless steel is non-magnetic, so...see if you can get a fridge magnet to stick to it.

Nah, only certain alloys of SS are non magnetic, not SS in general.

Any SS I've ever seen has been non-magnetic: refrigerator, pool cage screws, bolts, restaurant tables/equipment, etc.
