Questiona bout residual on C55AMG
Hey all
Currently drive a 2003 M3. Thinking of coming to the dark side and getting into a C55 AMG.
I lined one up, just curious as to what the average residual price on this car is? Anyone care to chime in
Thanks in advance..
Also, this is my first post! HI ALL! Look forward to being part of the AMG community

Hi and welcome to the board
Where are you located (US Or Canada?) this will make a huge difference also mileage and condition of the vehicle, of course you already know this!! Some more info will help us to help you.
I can tell you that you are going to love the power of the C55, some say that the M3 has better handling, I personally think the C55 Handles excellent. Good luck

I am in the process of trading in my 03 M3 for an AMG. Gotta see if a dealer can match another dealers price today. If it doesnt happen, I will be V8 equipped shortly!
Thanks for all the advice!

Well
I have a 2003 M3 that needs to be traded in. I owe 33 on the car, the cars worth 28...but apparently the car had some unreported paint work done to it so they gave me 27K for it (another MB dealer in NJ gave me 26K for it...so did a BMW dealer).
With that negative equity in check, I was initially offered mid 1100s w/10K miles per year and 3K down.
Got em down to mid 1000s with 12K per year and 3 k down
Tell me what you get?

I got mine in black w/everything except sirius/ipod/PDC.. which i think breaks down to lighting package, cold weather, and nav options. I bought it 6 months ago for $53k incl gas guzzler tax which was about $1500 over invoice I believe.. CA tax, license, etc brought it up to just under $60k out the door. mine was one of the last in California.. the only other ones I knew of at the time was a silver one on the showroom floor w/o nav, another one in Downtown LA, and one in the Bay area.

Used 05's at the auction are going in the high 20's and the 06's are mid 30's. These cars have tanked in value. I quoted auction numbers because thats what the dealers are going by as far as value is concerned. It is also near impossible to sell them retail. I will say on a positive note, I love my C55. It's one of the nicest cars I've ever owned and has great performance(13.3@106).
I have been looking at used Gallardo's and one dealer pulled up the auction numbers and it was 33k for a C55 and they offered me 34k
So, if your buying new you better try for below invoice. MB has between 2,500-5,000 in hidden money(trunk money) on the C55. Just my .02

The LOWEST price at Manheim auction (one of the largest auction in the U.S.) is $29.7K for one w/ 68K miles!!!! This means NO WARRANTY!
I suspect this car is the same as this one given the color, mileage and year are the same:

Plus keep in mind dealers put cars at auctions for some reason... think about it. If they could sell it by themselves for profit, why would they put them in auction and potentially pass the savings to other dealers?
So... even though there may be some jewels among auctioned cars (just a wrong dealer in the wrong place), based on my experience 90% of auctioned cars out there are no good, thus, reflected in the price.
If I were to buy a car for myself, I personally look for non-auctioned cars or at least very cautiously approach auctioned cars. Remember... carfax is not always accurate. For example: My Maxima got into parking-lot mishap and had the front door shell replaced, front fender repainted.... nothing shows up in carfax.
So.... for those who want to get C55 dirt cheap... you may get a molested one or one that went through plastic surgery... just like old man says... if it's too good to be true, it may not be true.

BTW, the '06 at auctions are going for close to 40's or a little higher than 40's. There was only one went for mid 30's... and the difference w/ other cars are like $5K. So I suspect there was something wrong w/ the car...
'05 at auctions are going mid-35's w/ avg. mileage of 15-32K.
Plus you'll never know how loaded the car is.... options and conditions could drive as much as $5K in the price.
That's why I try to get above 40K for my car.... after taking into consideration that my car is a non-auctioned car, 20K miles (towards the lower end of the avg.), guaranteed to be MINT and clean history, and loaded.
Hope this helps a bit for those who are looking for C55's.
