Would love to see another group buy like this. I'm sorry I missed the previous one.

I bought a pair of those from someone on the forum that participated in the group buy but never installed them. I finally got around to having my shop install them today, but they said that they suck. The stock rear rotors are ventilated but the drilled ones are not. I didn't install them.

So I guess the group buy rotors weren't stock?

It turns out that the rotors that were sold to me were completely wrong, and can not fit my vehicle. I'm not even sure if these were the ones from the group buy now. I don't remember which forum member I purchased them from. Anyone want to come forward? Thanks

I just completed the rear SLK55 / CLK55 or 030 rear brake option on my C55. Incredible look compared to the stock caliper/rotor setup. I can definitely feel the bite of the rear brakes, as the pads are nearly twice the size of the stock 2 piston caliper pad, and the rotor is larger.

All parts are OEM and are direct bolt-on. My installation advice is DIY if you're comfortable doing brake work, which is not complicated work. Make sure you have a brake bleeder, or have a patient helper if you need to pedal bleed.

One IMPORTANT note: The backing plate needs to be changed, or you can butcher the stock C55 one. Either way, you need to make room for the larger rotor and caliper. In order to change the backing plate, you need to remove the hub flange. You'll need the OEM extraction and insertion tool, plus a bearing kit, as you'll run a 95% chance of damaging the bearing upon removal of the hub.

I came up with a third option, as I'm not too comfortable undoing the factory bearing and hub installation. I had the correct backing plates cut into two pieces by a machinist. Each plate is mounted by 4 bolts, so I had them cut so that each halve would be secured by 2 bolts evenly. I also made sure that I did not cut through any of the high spots that the parking brake shoes rest on. Each half is strong, and the base for the parking brake shoe is not compromised. There are no vibration noise issues.

Did you get a good deal on the skl55 brakes? From the dealer they are about the same cost as stoptechs, brembos etc.

I'd be just as happy to have NON-DRILLED front rotors to match the rear rotors. Drilling is way overrated. On another thread, I link to rockauto.com which appears to have Raybestos and AC Delco front rotors that may not be drilled.

Rear Rotors

Has anyone ever used this brand?
I've called the rep and he said the rear rotors were 300mm and it would be a direct replacement. Any comments ? TIA.

$330 each!? For disc italia?? With no COO information listed, you can almost guess China. The text is great marketing, however. The last post in this link https://mbworld.org/forums/wheels-tires-suspension-brakes-forum/196037-amg-oem-rotors-discitalia.html questions the quality and location. You are very quickly approaching the cost of the 030 caliper, for a disc?

A decent dealer should sell you the 030 rear rotors for $144 each. Take the money saved and buy the 030 calipers.

At least for the extra money you get 4 pots, and a larger disc.

kjb55 thanks for the link. I can't find any decent information either, but one of the members said it wasn't too bad.

I updated the rears, painted the calipers.
I ordered oem fronts from oempartsdirect.com, maybe its just me but they seem a tad bit dull.
I think I'm just *****ing a little.
Last pic is the oem front.
