Rear Tire Problem - New C55

Folks - I've got a problem.

The rear tires are going bald on my new C55 really fast.

What should I do?

It seems to be related to the pedal on the right.

This is why I de-staggered my wheel/tire setup. I can wear out tires more evenly by rotating them.

Presently, I'm disappointed with how slowly my rears are wearing! I want to buy 4 new tires (Yoko Advan Neovas) and I assumed that my rear tires would wear faster than the fronts. Maybe burnouts at lunch.

Did you use 4 rears or 4 fronts? also what do you drive 32 or 55 and are they stock wheel?

Thanks.

Well, my problem is that I've never owned a car since my 68 Buick Lasabre (a.k.a. "The Shark") that had enough power to smoke 'em by planting the right foot.

That was 20 years ago (the car was given to me as a hand-me-down, and was 18 years old at the time with 128K miles on it!!!).

In those days, we had to turn the cover on the air cleaner over to get the thing to make the 'whoosing' intake sound. Poor man's verison of todays K&N noise maker.

But now, with the C55 - OMG what fun I could have had back then.....

Thankfully, I am not a teenager anymore.....

Thanks.

I use four rear wheels (17x8-1/2) with 245/40/17 tires. Stock wheel.

Thanks,

do you know if the same can be done to the 55 18" wheels?

I really don't know, but you can certainly try it. Just swap front-to-back (reverse stagger!) and see if you have any interference. The area to worry about is contact between the top, inside edge of the tire and the strut tube (black tube extending from the hub up to the top of the fender). That's where the clearance is smallest. You don't need much clearance, but any rubbing could result in a tire blow out, and because the wear is on the inside face of the sidewall, you'd never see it until it failed.
