C32 AMG
another new C32 owner

hey guys,

got my new C32 last sunday and finally got around to taking some pix. 2002 alabaster white 55k miles. no bixenons or cd changer . It's a great car and is very clean.

Here's a few pix

I've been reading up on the forums and found I have that little stumble that everybody talks about at low throttle. Everything else seems to working fine except the lights in the glovebox and trunk which probably just need replacement bulbs. Few upgrades for the future: looking into to purchase the Depo/ebay housings, Mtec HID kit, CF lip and a C55 spoiler. Also wanted to add a stock changer. As far as I can tell I can buy any used optical one, take apart the dash and install it with an extra optical cable from the trunk right?

I'm no stranger to working on cars and fast cars at that as I'm coming from the world of rx7s. Got kinda tired of the japanese car scene and having a race car that I didnt drive much. I may eventually get into power upgrades with the AMG but I'm not planning at it at the time (that's what I said with the FC ) Anyway here's a few pics of my FC I just sold

thanks for taking the time to read my post and see you guys around the boards.

welcome to the form,
ur car looks nice, the upgrades i would do first would be bi-xenon, and then move on from there, the CD changer in these cars go in the glove-box on the first shelf. u wont need to run the cable from the trunk the cable in the trunk is for the Phone setup not the CD changer. there is an extra cable u get with the CD changer and that will plug in the back of the deck. or u can change the stock deck to a stock Nav unit. well hope that help.

Nice, a rare white 02 C32! Enjoy it. Welcome to the family.

By the way, my mechanic just told me what AMG really stands for: Alot More Green. He was referring to the $1500 alternator.

Thanks for the tips. I've been trolling for a while and can see you're one to post good info and help people out.

Haha thanks. i was definately set on getting a white one. if i didnt find a suitable white C32 i would have jumped on the C55 bandwagon $$$. fortunately i got a pretty good deal and an extended warranty as well.

thanks alot. I've dumped so much money into it it's ridiculous. i told myself i'd never add up the receipts but when i decided to sell I started adding them up and stopped when i got to about $25k!! thats not including the purchase price of the car . anyways i sold it for over $10k

Buy those $500 pullies that Topgun is selling. Face it, you're going to buy pullies sooner or later.

along with bi-x mentioned earlier, i would definitely consider a suspension system and clear side markers as well.

Congrats on the new C32, beautiful car. I used to own a 10th Anniversary FC and used to work as a rotary mechanic for about 3 years, so I have seen my share of them and yours is about the cleanest and clasiest I have seen. I hated having to get rid of it but at the time I had too many cars and work was taking too much of my time so I had no time to work on it. Luckily, a childhood friend totaled his FC and I sold mine to him so I still get to see it from time to time. BTW, they have not invented a spray that will repel the mod bug, it will eventually bite.

yea i'm researching it more and more and getting more inclined towards the bi-x. clear side markers are something i'm definately getting as well. suspension i'll leave alone for now. gonna try and enjoy the comfort for a while

thanks. yea i love FCs to death but i needed a change. too bad rotaries get such a bad rep but more for the true enthusiast rotorheads. you dont have to remind me about the mod bug

Quick question to anybody but I get a little vibration at idle from the audio components in the rear. when I got the car there was no cover/lining for the area right below the speakers. actually there was a bunch of rags/old tshirts that were stuffed between the framework and the audio components. What is any foam/shock absorption material is supposed to be there and what covering/panel am I missing if any.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys

I looked a a new RX-8 vs. used C32. You can't beat it for practicality, and it's a great track car right out of the box. But in stock form the rotary is a little down on power (compared to its peers) and way up in fuel consumption. I assume that they could make a rotary crank out whatever HP they want; but the fuel mileage would be horrendous.

yea rotaries have a huge amount of potential but gas mileage will always suck. it's their nature

UPDATE: I got totally spanked over the weekend by my friends mildly modded FD. We were coming back from an RX7/NSX hooters meet and decided to do some freeway pulls just to see how I held up. Here's the details

My stock C32 with 5 people in the car weighing in at about 4400lbs

My friends mildly modded FD putting out estimated 260whp at about 2800lbs.

We did a few rolls from 60-100 and I got smoked in all 3. I'm sure all the weight would have a made cut the distance a good amount and gearing was not to my advantage. I'm gonna try and setup another run with no passengers and doing a 30-70mph run since that's a more accurate assessment of power.

I feel my car is so slow now. The honeymoon period was so short Guess I'll have to start modding soon

of course it'll smoke you. the stock C32 usually only puts down around 280whp and the weight isn't to your advantage anyways.
