Radio cut out

Okay guys:

Has this ever happen to you. I was driving down the raod, and the radio shut off, nav to. I tried everything, and the dash just said Audio ______, or NAV_____. Finally I turned the car off, and back on, and guess what, everything worked again. Is this one of the elcetrical grimlins with our toys

By the way, mine is an 04 with Nav, 17000 miles

See yeah

I had this problem except once the radio stopped working the second time, it never worked again even after the car restarted . Although every other function of the Comand worked, I took it to the Stealership under warranty and demanded a new Comand. They simply reflashed/reloaded the Comand software and it has been working fine since.

My radio stopped working. I replaced the fuse, and all was good. I imagine just the resetting of the fuse fixed the problem, as the original was not blown. Maybe you have a loose fuse?

It's happened to me before too, mainly when the radio has been on for a long time or its really hot outside. I've been told the amplifier is faulty and needs to be repaired.

I tried to update the Command software but the dealer swears they can't update software on my C-class. My brother had the same prob with his E500 and they updated his. He never had that prob again.

Mine comes back once in a blue moon. I may pull the amp and open it up to see what's going on. Or buy a new Bose amp.

The issue is from a faulty CAN-Bus signal. Mine started doing it about once a month after I installed the Comand. After I sold the unit, the problem was still there, so I went over all of my steps and found the CAN-Bus connector under the passengers side kick panel is faulty. I purchased a new one from MB and it hasn't happened since.

Do you have a part number for that?

Can you post a pic of the CAN-bus.

I recently used an automotive air pump that you plug into the car’s 12V outlet to fill my tires with more air. When I started the car up, no sound from the Radio. I restarted the car, and still no sound. I then did a search on this issue here and couldn’t believe how many threads there are on the issue. I guess I’ll call the dealer… I’d like to try changing the fuse, but can’t figure out where the hell it is…

Any further developments on this somewhat common problem?

Open the drivers door and lookm behind and to the side of the drivers side A/C vent. There is a panel there hiding the fuse box.

Take a look at both pics. These are located next to the right side door.

Thanks for pointing this out... someone else told me it was there, but I did't see how the panel comes out. But anyway, after the car sat for a while, I started it up and the radio (sound from speakers) came back. I'm wondering if the car is programmed in a way that sort of preserves the battery. While I was pumping air, I had the stereo playing, and my neighbor came over and we started talking about the car, it was about 10-15 minutes total. Very strange though...

Mine has just started doing exactly the same thing. After around 20-30 mins driving the sound dissappears for a second then returns, then gets progressively worse until there is no sound at all, and i have to turn the car off and on again for it to "reset" i think. I am diagnosing the problem to be the oem bose amp in the boot to be overheating and going into some kind of thermal protection. So i am trying to locate a new/used amp number 203 820 1389 and hopefully this will sort out my issues.
