As a newbie, I can certainly say this is very helpful. It even answers questions I didn't even know to ask. Thanks again!

So I am a newbie sorta. I am starting with a fresh C32....no tuning....no mods. I am posting this Dyno to show what stock C32 makes (generally). I am then going to Dyno after each Mod I install and post the numbers. This way folks can get an idea what gains each mod will get. So with that being said, the order in which I will mod/ tune is:
1. Sprintbooster

2. SL55 complete intake with y-splitter. Including K&N filters.

3. Pulley(not sure which one yet but leaning towards the LET Pulley 185mm)

4. ECU tune

I am moving to Germany in the next two months and might find something over there for mods and stuff.
I will keep the forum posted.

Sprintbooster Installed- Seems much more responsive-Like the feel. Not worried about the throttle reset anymore. Didnt bother with DYNO as per forum guidance.

SL-55 Complete Intake Installed- I can definitely hear that it is getting more air- Will DYNO this weekend- Probably 2 FEB 08.

ASP Pulley- On Order.

This is just a hobby I guess....but now I am addicted....

I will start thinking about cooling MODS now to reduce heat soak and stuff like that.

Peace

Its just getting started...you should have bought the LET special they had on Pheumonic Spacers....with the addition of pretty much any pulley means more power thus more heat and those as well as heat exchanger and upgraded I/C pump like Johnson pump are recommended.:y

Yes Sir, I understand the heat soak issue and in response I just ordered from LET, awesome guys and GOOD deal:

1 JHSN-PUMP Johnson CM30 Intercooler Pump
1 Phenolic-32 LET Motorsports Phenolic Spacers
1 C32-HE LET Motorsports Heat Exchanger
1 LET-6-IgnitionWires LET Motorsports Ignition Wires
1 NGK-Colder-C32 NGK Spark Plugs

I just need to find a shop near Fayetteville/ FT Bragg, NC to install all at once. Im really busy because im moving to Germany in a couple months or I would do it myself. Anyway, can't wait to hit the Autobahn again and now visit Affalterbach.

Where can I get the SL55 Complete Intake? Does it include the AirBoxes?

Anyone know what the LET or Evosport SL55 Intake Kit include?

If you buy from LET you get everything including air boxes, y-splitter. Keep in mind you need new air filters for an SL55. Our C32 filters wont fit. E-mail them, they are good at answering questions. Or just search in forums. www.letmotorsports.com

Hello, I am a newbie at this myself. I appreciate a one stop.

Two questions:

1) Aren't C32's supposed to have 349 HP? I saw on the chart about 285-290.
Is that right? Is there that much loss when measured at the rear wheels?

2) As far as the pulley/ECU mods that boost the engine output so much, (over 400 total) how does that additional power affect the transmission? Or can the stock 5-speed handle the higher output without suffering accelerated wear and failure? (no pun intended)

mdncn2762 02-11-2008 05:34 AM

The norm is 17% to the wheels. So 349 at the crank minus 17% is 289 RWHP. Manufacturers normal advertise SAE which is at the crank. Amg Trannies are built pretty well. There are a few members pushing some good HP/ TQ without any problems.

Its the same tranny used in the E55 which makes around 500 torque. Translation, our 6 WILL NEVER HURT IT no matter what you do to her.

See yeah:zoom:

t1n0 02-11-2008 10:48 AM

If it's the same tranny used in the 55 built to withstand 500 Hp/tq, then it should last forever at around 400 - 450. That is some very good news. :)

As far as those pully/ecu mods:

If I understand correctly, all that's done is change the pulley to change the drive ratio of the supercharger so it is spinning faster for the same RPM, and therefore forcing a higher boost than stock. Then the ECU will change the mixture curve to accomodate the higher mass of air.

With nothing else, those two changes will put my car over 400 hp? It seems so easy, why didn't AMG do that in the first place?

Too GREATLY over simplify this issue, AMG does not do this for warrenty/longevity/MPG/emissions,etc, etc.

Keep in mind that by spinning the SC faster, it will create MORE heat. SO, you buy a larger HE, like I did, to combat this. Car manufactures tune/build their cars to stay WELL within certain parameters, so the answer is YES it is eay to make more power, but yes this can also change MANY other issues, as noted above.

ALL, in all the C is pretty bullet proof. Atleast I will find this out in the spring when I take her back to the track.

See yeah:zoom:

PS: Sorry used, didn't mean to hyjack this thread:bow:
