Yeah, they are good prices. Please post the Stage II prices for Evo, Kleenman & Rentech. Thanks! What is your pricing for planting both rear wheels on the ground?

Are they? Good to know. I know the Renntech Stage I kit lists from Renntech at $3,295 retail - http://www.renntechmercedes.com/w203_pricelist.pdf - I'd assume a tuning shop gets it wholesale, so is it accurate to say you're roughly paying $1,000 for installation?

To me, that sounds kind of expensive for bolting on two pullies and swapping the ECU, but that's just a gut feeling - I don't have any reference to base it on...

I agree

Vadium, I know you have given ALOT of GREAT ADVICE here:

But $4,000 for pullies and a computer flash?

I think I will install the ASP pullies for $900 myself and wait for a HE upgrade kit, or use FAST's Cobra HE for $400

Oh well, just my $0.02

See yeah

Good luck my friend with your new shop Vadium, and keep up the GREAT job of giving us GREAT advise

THANKS in advance

I guess I look at it a bit different - installed price of pullies and an ECU could hypothetically cost $2,000, $4,000 or $10,000; a big driver in the cost is what the tuner (i.e. evosport, Kleemann, Renntech, Brabus, Carlsson, etc.) charges for their parts - I'm more curious to know what a reasonable installation charge would be for Stage I, since I'm on the east coast I obviously won't be having a CA shop do the work.

I'm not a DIY'er when it comes to this stuff - but I guess I was thinking "okay, swap out two pullies for the upgraded parts, unplug the ECU and plug it back in when it's mailed back from Renntech... that's probably $300 of labor" - but I guess my gut is way off when it comes to installation charges...

Hey C32amg:

Installing pullies is a snap, with the right tools

This takes about 1-2 hours, depending on your tools, and that pisky crank bolt

The computer flash, well, lets just say it is done in a flash.

Now the colant tank, there is a couple of hours here, emphasis two.

All in all about 5 hours DIY.

I'm in Pittsburgh, and will be doing my pullies, REALLY SOON.

I will write up some instructions so that ANYONE can follow them and describe the tools required.

Check other posts on this site and you will see that ALOT of people don't go the route of the Flash, as it simply is NOT a BIG gainer for $2000

Hope this helped

See yeah

Ineresting! I thought doing the ECU flash was absolutely positively required for Stage I to do it's magic. My reading through the many posts suggested that the current ECU programming isn't smart enough to match fuel for the added 3 pounds of air being pounded into our engines resulting in things running lean. There was also a lot of posts suggesting that the ECU without a flash wouldn't be able retard the timing sufficiently to prevent detonation in some cases. Basically, my understanding was that the pulleys would increase the air but ECU wouldn't be able to adjust and match the other stuff, mainly fuel and timing, for things to run tip-top!

Tell me if I got this right. If I got it wrong, then you're right. Flash is just optional icing.

Many people run pulleys without an ECU upgrade. Its perfectly fine. There is some more power to be made, but not a lot.

Also, I am not knocking Vadim or his new shop at all. I am just simply tired of seeing these kind of prices on a car that has been out of production for 3 years, and its resale value is in the toilet. The market is moving on, and its time that the prices reflect that.

Exactly! However, this falls on the MFG. They need to adjust their prices accordingly.

A mistake on my part, sales tax is included. The ad said it was not. It is now fixed.

I also fixed Renntech pricing, they just changed their pricing guide.

I do not manufacture the kits, although I did design evosport kit and that is what I have had on my car for the past 129,000 miles.

Pulleys can be ran wihout the software, but the tune is not optimized. On a stock car the software is very close, there is extra 10HP/TQ. On Stage I car software adds 25HP.

As far making bigger or additional HE, it is in the works. I will post more detail ASAP.

Thank you for listening.

Evo Stage 2 Power Output

I think 435 crank hp is a little too aggressive for stage 2. On california gas (and evo stage 2), you will likely average around 330 to 335 wheel hp, which is about 400 to 404 hp to the crank. I think these are very good prices though...... half what it used to be 7 months ago

If you ever decide to do an install day in the South East let me know. I'd be interested in the Stage 2 setup.

If that will never be a possibility, how about PM quoting me for a stage 2 package shipped to 32714. Thanks

I did not include them since a lot of C32 owners have already upgraded their wires and plugs.

You mean going Stage 2 from virgin is a 7K proposition? That's $3400 for a set of headers, E55 air boxes, 2 filters and a reflash? Wow!

Vadim's post #15 graph is interesting - it really shows the "law of diminishing returns" when it comes to tuning. Stock to Stage I is a big jump for $x,xxx ... but if you throw the same $x,xxx at a Stage I car to take it to Stage II, you're looking at only about 1/3rd of a power increase as stock to Stage I...

I was daydreaming about Stage II, but now I don't know - I wonder if that money is better spent on a larger HE (& IC pump?) and Quaife LSD instead...?
