replaced the c32...

with a '04 audi a8l. i'll post pics later. from the get go i can tell you guys the following:

-it's not as fast as the c32..that's noticeable right away.
-for a huge car- i get about 27mpg on the highway- did so all the way from chicago back to d.c. (i know a lot of you will say "well the c32 is a fast car, you gotta pay to play" but i had a z06 vette that did 29mpg on the highway).
-this car handles like a smaller car then the c32, i'm guessing the awd and all aluminum body has something to do with this.
-i know it's in a higher price category but i paid only about 8k additional for this car and this includes a 2 yr bumper to bumper warranty.
-the seat ventilators, massagers, and the interior space are incredible.
-the fit and finish is comparable to the c32.
-the mmi system is incredible and very very easy to use.
-i'm disappointed in the lack of mp3 compatibility, plugin- this is a big no no for a car that is so incredibly advanced.

Very nice car. Little known trivia that the use of aluminum in the A8 makes it lighter than the A6. If I can get a third car that's good for periodic track use, then my daily driver might well be an A8 or S8. Warranty is crucial.

There's a C32 in the family so I'm a big fan but even the most ardent fan couldn't argue the C32 interior compares with that of the A8.

Anyway, congrats on the new ride.

i guess what i meant by comparable is that the c32's interior was made very well as far as quality and creaks and loose buttons whatnot went. the a8l is a step above that as far as features but it's supposed to be. now my '05 e500 is a piece of **** compared to both these cars. i am very disappointed in the quality of the newer mercedes. they are garbage.

I just replaced my C32 as well. I picked up a 2008 C300. Sweet car so far.

Why are we comparing a C32 with an A8L? Don't get me wrong, the A8 is a great car but it's a whole 2 classes larger than the C32. While we're at it, my wife's Suburban is not as fast as my C32 and doesn't get as good gas mileage. The C32 interior feels cramped compared to the Suburban but the fit-and-finish of the MB is much nicer.

We were comparing it because the fellow sold his C32 and got an A8. Nobody thinks that they are actually competitive. They are, however, both high end German sedans.

if you read my original post you would see that i noted that the audi is in a different class then the c32. however- the c32 was my former car as fifth said and so i posted this. a suburban is garbage btw.

Agreed. I was just poking fun at the comparo, that's all.

The one thing all these high-end german sedans have in common is quality issues. itsmeek, I hope you got a warranty with the A8. I posted in another thread about warranties so I won't repost. Needless to say, all of these cars have quality gremlins that can cost us owners big $$$.

Have fun with the A8, and don't think you can't track the car. I have a friend with an S8 and he takes it to the track with the Audi club all the time.

Yep. The Germans better look out or they'll go the way of the Italian and French car makers. BMW and Porsche have a special niche and buyers will tolerate little problems. But Audi and Volkswagen are still selling more to the mainstream, and if they cannot match the reliability of Toyota and Lexus, they are going to be hurting.
