Finally the CLK 63 brake project on my C32 is finished. here are some pic:

P.S. the new brakes are way way way lighter then the stock C32 brakes.

size of the front old vs the front new

the gap between the caliper and wheel

Size of the front old rotor vs the new rear rotor.

well my friend and i installed everything in my garage, so install was no charge, but the all the parts came out to be somewhere around $4000.00

LOL, ya those really fill up my wheels i like that look a lot, i dont think i will be going any bigger then 18" on my car but i will hopefully get HRE wheels soon.

Very nice looking. It is also very tempting to do if the CLK63 brakes are indeed lighter than the stock C55/C32 brakes, especially if they offer greater stopping power on the track. Any idea if 17" rims would clear those front brakes?

Did you buy them from the Mercedes Dealership? If so, how much?

there is no way that a 17" wheel will clear those brakes, i have 18" on my car and there is like a paper line between the caliper and wheel. if ur wheels balance weights are off the edge the off the wheel the caliper will spit them out. u need a min 18" wheel to clear those calipers.

they are lighter then current C32/C55 bake setup for sure. i weight my caliper before and posted the results on this form u can find the post and then u can check the weight of ur current brakes and compare it. i'm sure they are lighter then the current C32/C55 setup.

this setup is really $$$ at the dealer, but i got them from Sunil. for around $4500 i think.

getting better on every drive, the pads are still settling in and the paint on the rotors are just starting to ware off. so once the paint wares off the rotors the pads will settle in to the rotors and the braking power will improve a lot more. But as it stands i can already feel the difference on the stopping power.

Quick question whats the best way to install drilled slotted rotors in terms of position/angle of the holes slots eg

<--- Rear of car \`. O`.\ Front of car --->

<--- Rear of car /.' O .' / Front of car --->

I personally think the second one because it pushes debris eg brake dust away from the rotor outwards whereas the first pushes it inward to the centre of the rotor.

If that makes sense!?

Harry, please tell me that you followed a proper brake pad bed-in procedure like this...

if not, it is like throwing $4000 down the drain, as you will not get the full benefit from your newly upgraded braking system...

Thanks, they work really well
i think 19" are going to rub, and i dont want to deal with that.

thx man
ya i thought about that before too, but the 4 piston front and 4 piston rear will not work well on our cars, because they are not a true 50/50 split. you brakes will not be as effective

thx, you should see them when the wheel spins at high speeds.
you can just go to any dealer get the paint cod for the front calipers and then get any body shop to mix you a small batch of that paint and then u can re-paint your rear calipers and put a Benz sticker on it, if u want to just go for looks.

no worries man, they are on the car now u can see them at the next meet.

Quote: finally. now get to work on what you actually need for handling. i.e. coilovers
LOL, ya i know about time those got put on. i dont know if i want to go with coil-overs it has not been a very persuasive argument. so i have not really been sold on them yet. but we will see what happens, i dont want to deal with rubbing and bottoming out.

they are right way on my car, if u think what way the wheels spin then i would make sense, + i just copied the style of the stock caliper setup, and the AMG web-page setup, all the bake setup on the AMG page have the calipers facing like i do. Hope that helps

ya we did that to the "T"
my friend who helped me put those brakes on took the car out after putting the brakes on and did that exact thing. i remember asking him what he was doing when he was going through those steps, he told me the same thing that is on that link. so i'm sure he the brake pad bed-in procedure right down to the T
