Service surprises...

So I brought my '05 C55 in for Service B (not cheap btw)...then I get a call that the car is over heating. The SA stated the technician would start the car and the temp would quickly rise to 120C. This is supposedly occurred after the service was completed.

I confirmed with the SA that it was indeed my C55 they were referring as it was surprising to me since there were no issues with it prior to me brining it in. It was actually driving really strong.

Coincident or negligence?

as far as you are concerned, there is no such thing as coincidence. Don't let them tell you otherwise. Don't sign for the car or accept it back without it back to 100%. Let it sit there and idle if you need to make sure. If it was running fine before they had it, it needs to be running fine when you drive away. Make sure they put oil in it!

Something is definately up, it's rare enough to see a newer MB overheat anyway.

I'd be going down there and seeing exactly what they are talking about and getting either the service manager or MB involved as required.

update...

i still don't believe the overheating was a coincidence but there's no way to prove it. what i can say after getting the C55 back is that i no longer have any confidence/trust in that dealership.

after handing over $400+ for a service B, i noticed the work sheet they were using was for a non-AMG W203. so my immediate concern was if tech even knew it was an AMG car, did he use the right amount of oil, etc...
i'll have to double-check all his work now on my own. it also gives me more reason that it's less of a coincidence and more neglect.

when i got home, i opened the hood just to check things over. to my surprise (maybe not), there was dried up coolant every where on top of the coolant reservoir. i also noticed they replaced the oil cap, not sure why. the air ram next to the coolant reservoir was loose and was disconnected from the opening vent in the grille. coincidence it was loose b4 i brought it in? i can't be sure either but i open the hood pretty regularly and clean off the dust and check around for loose wires.

on the invoice the tech mentioned a cracked control arm. so i ask the cashier if she can check this out for me. the SA replies back by saying "oh, the crack is not large enough to need replacing...bring it back later" Hmmm...does she mean bring it back AFTER the warranty expires (because i'm so close to it already).

i did complain about the trunk release button rattling when the radio is on. they replaced the button (fixed the rattle), but i also noticed my $5 bill was missing. oh well...that's the least of my concern at this point.

sorry, Autobahn MB of Belmont, CA. (you were my preferred dealership)

Tell me about it...

after 2 days getting back the car, i'm now getting check coolant and check windshield fluid messages on the dash.

interestingly enough, the messages appear together. it only happens during my morning commute to work, and that if i turn off my engine and restart it, the message will go away and won't come back until the next morning.

how am i going to explain this to the SA?

Thanks.

I'll send something to MBUSA after I'm sure the C55 has not been damaged. Can't waste time on them now, have to focus on the C55 first.
