Traded in the C55 for a 07 Tundra

Man took a big hit but I knew I was because these Mercs drop in value like rotten apples. Here's the scoop. My 2005 silver with 35k miles traded in and got 30k for it. They would not budge and one dealer was only giving 28k for it. I probably could have sold it but with all the for sale threads I've been seeing and not having many luck at it I just figure to trade her in. I still had a 37k loan on her and took that negative equity into the truck. Got a deal on the truck. 2007 Crew Max SR5 with TRD. Got the 1.9% finacing and so I benefited in the tax break and finance break from 6%. I really enjoyed this forum and it helped out a lot. I will be back with the new C63 in a couple of years and in the mean time will enjoy the Tundra for a couple of years.

PS
I didn't get a chance to take it in for the headlight going out occasionaly. I think this will be on the only C55 in Colorado for sale too. So if your in the market and they try to sell it to you for 38k, tell them you will give them 31k.

Any car or truck does not have great resale value. If you think the Mercedes was bad, try trading in the Tundra in a couple of years. Dealers will tell you all the same thing that their cars or trucks have great resale. Instead of trading it in at the dealer did you consider Carmax? They tend to give a better trade in value then the local dealer. Good luck with the Tundra.

MB doesn't have the resale value of BMW, but if you really wanted to take a bath, you should have bought a new 2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6. Obvioulsy it's 80% Benz and has an AMG supplied drivetrain. Original MSRP was $48,000. I bought mine with only 14,000 miles and an 8year/80,000 mile extended warranty for $21,000.

Don't feel bad about the $7,000 Negative that you had. Imagine what the SRT-6 Owners that bought new two years ago are thinking. They still owe $30,000 + on a car that trades in for $19,000-$20,000.

Sounds about right. I was able to get 34K back in May when I traded my silver 05 C55 with 28K miles for a CPO E55. I wasn't too disappointed because I got the C55 used with 1K miles, and only paid 49K for it two years ago. I'm sure I will feel some pain in a few years when I try to sell a used 05 E55 with minimal warranty.

Ouch. That is a big hit.

My C32 has depreciated ~$350 every month since I took possession. It was not an investment per se; it’s merely a way to get down the road. To my way of accounting, it is a relatively inexpensive pleasure. I still enjoy every mile behind the wheel.

Great deal on your TRD SR5! Toyota’s finance arm is moving some units, and continues to gain market share. I’m looking for a replacement for my current GMC. Although they have served me well over the years, their current offerings are sorely lacking. It could very well be that an Asian marque such as yours will be next in my garage, and on the jobsites.

I knew I was going to take a big hit with my 2003 C32 (with 31,000 mi) so instead of waiting to pay it off (only had 6 months to go), I traded it in for a 2006 S65. I got $24000 for it, which I could live with. I thought about getting a new E63, but I would have taken a bigger hit in depreciation in a couple of years when the new E-class comes out. But like somebody said above, all cars depreciate quickly. We buy them to enjoy driving while we own them.

I think most of knew what we were getting ourselves into with these cars, reliable, of course not. I bought mine becuase its damn cool... Car for car, the BMW 335i w/ nav, premium and sport is way, way over priced imo, unless you go with an M car imo. What's interesting about the C55, with low miles and prices in the mid to upper 30's, you have to agree that it has a real competitive edge in the market-right now (high performance smaller sedan, sporty, sexy, addictive), almost on its own. I was looking at a 3 year lease on a 335i for the same payment. I got this car because its unlike any other MB or any other car on the road, probably will be my only MB. I'm in it for 'its' life though, she's a keeper. After this its back to my Porsche cars (I needed a break).

Going from a C55 to a Tundra doesn't seem to warrant a significant enough of an argument though, you traded into a completely different automobile. Just that alone didn't do your C55's value any justice.

Didn't get 6000+ off but did get 3000 and the difference in the %interest swayed me to it also. I wanted to keep it but the depreciation was just to steep in a yr or 2. I rather take the hit now and enjoy a new car, it could have been any new car as long as it was around 40k and 0% finance for 60. Wife was pissed because it was her car but the next car will be either C63 used or new ISF. Thanks guys and I will post pics of the Tundra. I did move up in Horse Power to from 362 to 381, ha ha.
